The Philadelphia Eagles have announced they have placed their franchise tag on DT Corey Simon, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent March 2.

I'm surprised by this move.

Simon isn't that good. He's not a top 5 DT and they have a bunch of guys they can just plug and play next to Darwin Walker.

eh I liked Simon two years ago but haven't really been impressed since. Maybe they're looking to trade him but i can't imagine a team giving up that much for him.

Good point, something we should have considered with Tait. Ah well, I'm still hopeful for this offseason.
