As much as I don't think he deserves it :shake: I can still remember the greatness of the Chiefs in the early to mid 90's .....

But as a WHOLE picture ... does CP deserve to be in the MO HOF? ...

or maybe the Missouri Hall of Shame ? :hmmm:

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announced that two members of the Kansas City Chiefs organization – President Carl Peterson and DE Art Still – will be inducted as members of their Class of 2005. The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame 2005 Enshrinement Banquet and Ceremonies will take place on Sunday, February 13th at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Along with Peterson and Still, 12 other individuals from diverse sports backgrounds and one team will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during the event, which is presented by The Killian Group of Companies. Other inductees with NFL ties include RB Bo Jackson, who also starred for the Kansas City Royals, former Missouri and Raiders LB Gus Otto and longtime NFL assistant coach Jim Hanifan. In addition, the 2005 John Q. Hammons Founder’s Award, two Missouri Sports Achievement Awards and two Special Olympics athletes of the year will be honored and recognized during the ceremonies.

Peterson will embark on his 17th season with the Chiefs in 2005 as the club’s top executive. Regarded as the person most responsible for the organizations return to prominence during the past 16 years, Peterson has overseen a sellout streak of 117 consecutive games at Arrowhead Stadium. During his tenure with the Chiefs, Kansas City has produced 11 winning seasons and qualified for the playoffs on eight occasions. He helped guide the Chiefs to a 102-58 (.638) record from ‘90-99, making Kansas City one of just seven teams in NFL history to record 100 or more wins in a single decade.

Still was selected by the Chiefs as the second overall pick in the ‘78 NFL Draft and went on to have a productive 10-year NFL career. A four-time Pro Bowler, Still started all 136 games he played in with the Chiefs, posting 992 tackles, 73.0 sacks and 11 fumble recoveries. A feared pass rusher and talented force against the run, he was twice named the Chiefs Most Valuable Player. Still was inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame in ‘98 and ranks third on the Chiefs all-time sack list behind only LB Derrick Thomas (126.5) and DE Neil Smith (86.0).

In all, 16 members of the Chiefs organization have been inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, including 14 former Chiefs players along with Lamar Hunt and Hank Stram.

They must not have very high standards.

As fans, we judge Carl by a different standard because it is all about the wins and losses and once we got used to the wins, the championships, and no championships or playoff success is certainly a blight against Carl in our view that overshadows the winning of the 90's.

But as a football exec, overall Carl has done a very good job of revitalizing a once moribund franchise and probably also helping to open some doors up for other sports of the area as the Chiefs under Carl have been supportive of local sports in Missouri and have donated time and money to help development of these sports and also have opened up doors to some of the local Missouri athletes and coaches through the various clinics and training sessions the Chiefs hold amongst other things.

So I'm sure it's that sort of impact that he's probably helped create that's getting him in, not just the fact that he's been the GM of a Missouri team forever...
