I think it's the standard situation for the Hawks. If the guards can hit their shots, then the offense seems to flow. If they aren't hitting their shots, for some reason, they compound the problem by seeming to forget about Simien inside. I think Moody will help.

Bottom line - if they weren't playing at home, I'd be very skeptical about their chances to win. I hope they win it, but it'll be a close, tough game.

I think you'll see KU jump out to an early big lead with all of the emotion for the game. OSU being a good team will make a run and bring back even. Should be around 40-40 at halftime. It will stay close until the 8 minute mark when the KU seniors finally say, screw this close game stuff. They'll put it away with inspired play.

Several reasons for my prediction:

1) Moody is coming back. He does all of the little things.
2) The seniors are good in these types of games. This feels like a conference championship game or NCAA tourney game.
3) The seniors are focused. They've eaten, sleeped, and lived basketball for the last week.
4) OSU whooped us pretty bad last year. Self says that won't play a factor, but those players remember that stuff. Remember how we came out against Texas? Same thing.
5) The crowd will be extra hyped. Promoting it as the Blue Phog, they'll do they're part. People have been blasted all week for booing their own guys.
6) They've rested for 6 days. They had a killer 2 week stretch of Saturday Monday games, 2 of which going into OT. This experience will help come tourney time.

Jayhawks are playing smart. Patient on offense without being sluggish. Aggressive on D, without being stupid. Shots are falling, and the one thing that tells me they are focused, is they are getting a lot of loose balls and 50/50 rebounds. Something that we've been poor at all year.

We have games where the whole team is on fire and then we dont. We have a hard time playing all phases of the game well in any one game.

it forces it to be a offensive play "off the dribble" ... something we aren't very good at.

start you final play at 15 second and get the ball down low to simien. that play takes longer to develop and will still get the last shot.

And this SOLIDIFIES our #1 RPI rating...OSU had the #3 RPI going into this game. Our win/loss record is still very good even with our 3 game losing streak. Giddens has been more of a liablility the past 8 games or so.

His game is 1 1/2 dimensional (1 dimension is the 3, 1/2 dimension for his leaping ability which only does him good on alley oops and break aways)

I'm going to be positive and call this a sophomore slump. Hopefully he'll take this offseason seriously and work on his handles. He needs to step up as a leader next year for the good of the youngsters. What better way to lead, than by example.

To me, this is why I think if we played them again we'd be a favorite to win. OSU is a good shooting team, but no one shoots that well that often, unless they are short layups and paint points.

OSU might be the one exception DJay. They have one guy that cant shoot well from outside and thats Crawford, anyone else is a threat to hit it everytime.

They are scary good at shooting, but like I said earlier, if you got a big man down inside, they cant stop you and big Dub proved it today with 32 points and a KU win.
