Screw’n chit up for everybody. :cuss:
Sorry to rant, but I’m still a little shocked over this one.

One of the products the company I work for makes uses an Olympus camera to snap pictures of the vehicle being tracked, I’ve attached a photo of this to a post here before. Recently Olympus quit selling their battery charger as part of the package we purchase and because of the expense of buying it separately it’s been decided to shop elsewhere. So yesterday I am tasked with going to Wal-Mart to purchase 20 battery chargers and 20 packs of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries for a shipment of units leaving that day.
Well, when I went to check out I was informed that I could only by four packs of batteries at a time. Turns out it’s a result of recent legislation because meth-heads are buying large quantities of batteries and taking them apart for cooking up there drug.

After I got over the shock of only being able to buy so many batteries at one time I thought, just how desperate ya gotta be for a buzz to put freak’n battery acid into your body? :shake:
Can anyone explain this chit to me?

No I can't explain it. But it pisses me off that I can't buy more then 3 boxes of cold medicine at the store because of these meth heads. Why can't they just smoke pot or drink beer.........

Meth heads are definitely dumbasses of the first degree. Might as well snort Clorox or mainline bleach.

I thought it was only Lithium batteries.

I worked at Batteries Plus, a retail battery sales store, and we were told to report anyone buying large amounts (more than 20) of Lithium batteries (not coin cells). We wouldn't refuse sale.

Yeah, that is screwed up. I bought a can of air (or I guess it's CO2) at Walmart a couple weeks ago. They had to check ID. I was like "WTF?" Apparently, if you try to purchase more than 2, they will refuse the sale and have security escort you out of the store. :shake: The cashier told me that kids are sniffing this to get a cheap high. But there are a lot of kids that turn into vegetables by doing this.

I don't think its a law. I think its a Wal-Mart thing. Remember, Wal-Mart is the place you can't buy a cd with "dirty words" on it. It wouldn't surpise me if this is a Wal-Mart only thing.

3 kids all different ages, if we get sick then I can't use the same meds I use for the 18 year old for the 3 year old. Most boxes only have 12 pills anyway.....so if we all took 2 each then 1 box is gone in a day. What about the next day. Colds usually last a week. Beside sometimes it is on sell and i want to have it on hand.......Does that answer your question.

Many stores are having to put Enfamil baby formula behind a counter because of its pure white color. The meth makers use it to cut a batch of meth in order to make it stretch farther. Of course, Wal-Mart has every kind of baby formula behind a counter and the derelicts that Wal-Mart employs can't tell the effin' difference in the kinds of formulas. Fock Wallyworld, Target is cheaper anyway.

Who is the "they" you're referring to? In Phoenix they use cameras to ticket speeders as well. Not sure when it started... I moved in AZ in Jan 2001 and it was already in place then.

Really, I hadn’t heard of that.
Know anyone that’s gotten a speeding ticket in the mail?
As far as I knew an officer had to be present to hand a ticket to you and get your signature. Sometimes that ticket goes to court with the photo attached, relieving the officer from having to show up, but that’s not necessarily the case all over the US either.

There are ALOT of products restricted due to meth manufacturing.

Go to your hardware store and try to buy some acid to refinish a bathtub. Buy a case of Ether or a couple gallons of paint thinner. Farmers whose Anahydrous tank lines get cut are sure big fans too.

What gets me is the "creativity" and chemistry used by some of the absolute morons who make the stuff.

One of my HS friends has been in and out of trouble with this crap since...Clean for the last 2 years, and I kind of believe him this time.

The Bad part about the Infamil, is that most of the Formula being used, is gotten through WIC and other welfare programs..........and instead of being used to nourish the neglected child........It cuts the Dope so they can make a little extra cash. I LOVE my tax dollars being used for that.

He told me of a process with a cattle water tank, electricity charged through a coil around a metal rod, and Stolen Cattle Salt Blocks to get some of the ingredients if they take Cold pills off the market.

Who knew you could get Effidrine? from a salt block?

Some of those guys should be working for a cure for Cancer, instead of a new way to make that dope.

On a related note, if anyone remembers the story about the rapist that was running rampant through my neighborhood, there are two potential updates.

First, they found a woman's body in an apartment last night two blocks from the vacant apartment that this guy had broken into and was hiding in. (This is four blocks from my house.) No word yet on whether he killed her, but I sure bet that's what happened. They caught him two weeks ago, but this woman hadn't been seen in longer than that, and the neighbors just thought she was on vacation. (Let me say once again that my neighborhood has a low crime rate except for this lunatic.)

Second, they posted a big, long story about what this guy was doing during the seven months between the time he got out of prison and being caught two weeks ago. Once he got out, he lived at a guy's house in another nearby city to Denver, and picked up the woman across the street as his girlfriend. She had two young sons, one of whom he molested, but the key part of that story is that he gave the kid a bike as a gift. I'll bet he stole my bike.

Runny nose cold and a cough cold are two different medicines. Throw in an ear infection and you alternate ibuprofin and tylenol. I have taken plenty of late night trips to the 24 hour drug store to by medicine for sick kids that won't go to sleep, and I when I go through Osco I look for sale/coupon/rebate items, and buy a bunch.

However, when it comes to my kids I try to stay away from any medicine with ephidrine, and look for meds that "may cause drowsiness". If a kid has to be sick, they might as well sleep it off.

Yeah. I saw some special the other night about regulating sale of products with ephedrine. The dude from enforcement was saying, "Bottom line. Without cold medicine and ephedrine, you can't make meth." Who the hell is he kidding? Just because you regulate ephedrine, you're not going to stop meth. They'll find a new way to make it. Failing that, the "big" labs will find a way to make ephedrine.

That being said, I really hate the shit. My brother had (and might still have) a horrible problem with it. Last year in school he was a sr, he had turned 18 and had antibotics , in their bottle with his name on them and took them to school to take his prescribed dose, well they call me and I have to go to the school, sign for him to take them and he has to leave some them in the office and pick them up at the end of the day ANTIBOTICS what the hell.

I live off of 291 in Indpenendence. There's a building by the side of the road-- part of a business no longer in business. Someone spray painted "I LOVE METH" on the side of it.

About a week later, some enterprising person changed the "E" in "METH" to and "A."

Not sure why I found that so funny, but graffiti that says "I LOVE MATH" just cracks me up.

The latest is called..."meth mouth."

Sounds like something off of Saturday Morning Schoolhouse Rock cartoons (that why guy, Mush Mouth).

Anyway, the prison systems are seeing huge problems with tooth decay. As in an entire mouth of teeth rotting in the space of a year. Evidently the chemicals in meth, combined with the crappy diets of users and the incessant grinding of teeth that speed cases is a bad recipe for oral hygeine. They're just pulling full sets of prisoners' teeth.

Going to do wonders for these folks when they try to go straight. Nothing says hireability like having a total of two teeth in your mouth.

Thats what the Dr. told her, she has one on the side of her brain and the other on the brain stem which cannot be removed, she now has seizures and is slightly retarded the chemicals will definately f*ck you up

while she was hospitalized with this I looked up meth and side effects on the internet and it talked about it causeing brain tumors also.

of course, the problem with denying benefis is that all you are doing is shifting the costs of dealing with alcoholics and addicts to somebody else (local governments in many cases) or to some other program (food stamps, for example)...

unless we totally stop all assistance of any kind to a/a's, including welfare and foodstamps and the whole enchilada, somebody's going to be paying for it in the long run...

Because of the nature of my work, I sometimes go weeks or months between jobs and I don't go out of my way to stay in touch with my boss. So if I kicked at a time when I wasn't scheduled, he wouldn't notice either, since it's not out of the ordinary for me to be out of touch for long periods of time. I've never met any of my neighbors, and my car's here more often then not, so there'd be nothing unusual there until the smell started to spread through the building. I don't think anybody here would notice either, since I disappear regularly for long stretches. I'm about as under-the-radar as a person can be.

Again, those who have been put in a poor situation through things they can't control get the assistance.

Yes.

Me. ;)

Probably not.

Again, those people did not choose to be that way -- they were born that way. Thus, they get benefits.

You should visit Markland ... where the water tastes like wine and the climate suits my clothes.

~~:Di've been through maryland many times, but not for quite awhile...

interesting stuff... :hmmm:

but, personally, i don't think that addiction is something most people can control...

nobody chooses to be an a/a...

of course, addiction results from poor choices, but once addicted, there is no longer any choice to it, nor is it something that can be controlled...

i guess that's probably why i have some reservations about restricting benefits because of addiction to drugs and/or alcohol..

but between social security and this maryland thing, it looks like we're headed that way...

we'll see how it works out...

btw, the water didn't taste like wine to me... :shake: :shake: :shake:

To be honest, I don't necessarily disagree. I was just trying to take something to an extreme.

Addiction is a disease--heroin, meth, alcohol, etc. all have huge addictive qualities. But huffing paint or whatever is NOT an addiction -- it's stupid.

It does in Markland.

Yup. I bet the person you working with is FOS, or stupid. Or both. I think Wal-Mart is behind it too. They have good prices, but they are a very..uh..uptight with their "moralities".

Just FYI, but I spoke with our purchasing agent that normally buys batteries for our company and he tells me that it’s because of legislation not just a Wal-Mart policy. Said I’d probably have the same problem wherever I went.
I’ve got a friend that runs the local Radio Shack, when I can catch up to him I’ll ask ‘bout it also.
