Just thought I’d let you all know that Oklahoma Joes just opened a new restaurant on the west side of strangline, just across the street from the mega plex. This may not sound like a big deal to most, but Olathe has been missing a good BBQ joint for years now. I hated having to drive to Overland Park for BBQ. It always got cold before I could get home. Anyway, I can say with out reservation that the food is every bit as good as the original.

Enjoy my fellow carnivorous BBQ junkies.

Smokin' Joes on 135th (East of the courthouse) is good stuff.

Big Bubba's at 151st and MurLen is OK. They do have an autographed picture of Willie Ames (dressed as Bibleman) in there.

I don't know the exact address, but it’s across the street from the movie theaters on strangline. In the same parking lot as Long John silvers. If I'm not mistaken it used to be a country bar and then it became a restaurant called the Jazz.

I grew up around that area, and I have tried Big Bubba's. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but it wasn't all that good. Didn't know about the one off 135th; I'll have to give it a try.

It was Guitars & Cadilacs, then Jazz. It is across from Target just south of 119th.

Big Bubbas is OK. Not worth going out of your way.

We really like Smokin Joes though. Tender ribs.

I usually end up settling for Zarda's on 135th and Metcalf, because Jack Stack on 95th is so much longer a drive. Oh happy day. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight.

Good gawd....I can't find one single, decent joint in this town....Somebody puhhhhhhlllllleeeeeze- bring some KC BBQ to Denver- I'll give you 2,000 for a franchise.

I myself had to settle for the exact same Zarda's for the exact same reason.

Just polished off a hog heaven, and yes "Oh Happy Day" good stuff.

Does it have a drive-through? I could swear the original one did, but I might be confusing it with someplace else. It's been a long time since I had Oklahoma Joes. That was the other good part about Zarda's.

I don't think I've ever been to Haywards. I'm remembering this place that was a gas station. Tracy was driving her jeep and it had a drive thru. But it's been enough years ago that I can't remember anything other than that.

Imagine if they delivered. My fat ass dream come true.

Well, damn. I thought this was a thread that was going to say Olathe gathered up all of Johnson County, and moved down by Witchita.

I want B-B-Q now.

Big Bubbas has always been great when I go there. I consider it in the same class as Oklahoma Joe's, but not as good. I hate Smokin' Joe's, but that's probably because I worked there 20 years ago when it was Wyandot BBQ.

I hate driving down to Oklahoma Joe's, parking down the street, then waiting in an hour long line to get some grub. Then you HAVE to get carryout and drive all the way home cause there's no way you're gonna find an empty table in that place. It's worth it every now and then, though. I just hope the new one doesn't suck, like LC's on 95th sucks compared to the original, or Arthur Bryant's at the casino.

Haywards is good if you're in that area, but you should also try Boardroom just up the street on the southwest corner of 95th and Antioch.

Boardroom is ok. I prefer Haywards in that part of town, and I will catch lunch there on occasion.
