Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Ok so now there should be no excuses from the organization, and these reporters from these inside sources. Saying that, KC is NOT willing to part their 2nd round pick for Surtain because the team does not have a 3rd rounder.

So really Welbour only cost us the drop from 77 to 99. Not that bad.

much better than nothing, for sure...I wonder, now, how the 2nd day status of picks affects their value..for instance, we have a couple of 4th round picks which I'd be happy to trade to move up in the 3rd, but is their "real value" less than their chart value just because they're second day?

Anybody have a clue what I'm trying to say?

I'd like to bundle our lower round picks to move in the 2nd/3rd, but I wonder if 2nd day picks have any real vlaue on the first day??

It's amazing to me that the Raiders get any compensatory picks considering the crap that left their team!

NO,NO,NO!!! ... just because we got a comp pick for tait, doesn't lessen the welbourn deal any at all.

right now we should have 2 picks in the 3rd round. :banghead:

The bad thing is- there really is no excuse for giving up our second round pick for Surtain now. Now that we have the 3rd round compensation pick- we can now afford to part with our second. There's absolutely no excuse not to....

Hindsight is 20/20. We all would have been pissed if we went into the season with Chris Bober as our Starting RT and you know it. Did Wellborn work out like we had hoped? No. Its not like we draft worth a shit anyway.

oh bull ... trading 2 mid round draft picks for a guard with bad knees was a bad deal.

has nothing to do with hindsight

there were ACTUAL offensive tackles on the market that could of been signed for similiar money that we gave welbourn and wouldn't of costs us a draft pick at all.

we d!cked around and then had to trade for one.

just like this year, if we hadn't d!cked around in free agency we could of signed a cornerback and wouldn't have to trade for surtain.

What's worth Laz is that Jordan Black was already on the roster and played much better than either Bober or Welbourne. What a waste!

If we would have lost Tait, and signed a better Tackel than Bober we would have not got our 3rd round comp pick

maybe ... maybe not, we might of received another 4th rounder

none of it changes that fact that we screwed around in FA and then overpaid for welbourn.

1 pick for welbourn was ok ... 2 pick for welbourn sucks

and this was said as soon as we found out about the 2nd draft pick due.
