I didn't find anything at all. Sorry.

A road apple is a horse turd. Horse turds are kinda firm and about the size of an apple. Hence the name. I can only assume it could be a real problem in heavily ridden areas unless they made a concerted effort to dispose of them or "kick them to the curb".

I agree, It's not like surfing the web takes some super high resolution. I have a friend that frequents the political chat rooms after work every night with web TV. Ok, you guys are arguing about who has the better technology. Everyone has different levels of technology. What you have depends on several factors such as:

- How much $$$ you have(or how much you want to actually spend on the new high tech stuff) - You see that, GC? Some of us can't spend all our money on the latest high tech stuff because we don't live at home with mommy and we have to pay bills
- Knowledge of the technology

Again, it's just a matter of what works for you. So how about we stop this stupid argument over whose technology is better?

Sure. They are called Dishnotwork by the Directv guys in reference to their DVR's that are notorious for their failure rate. And they are constantly changing their receivers for a newer model. Apparently they they don't beta test. Just build it and ship it and let the customers tell us what's wrong with it. About 40% of the new installs my company does are replacing Dish systems. I always ask why they are switching and they almost always say poor equipment and lack of service to fix the problem. As for policies, Directv let's you change your programming free whether you are going up or down in price. Directv will let you shut off your system for 30 days then turn it back on free. Dish charges $25 to turn it back on. NFL Sunday Ticket is a good example of which company has the clout. Most of my industry buddies hate Dish and refuse to install them. I have contracts with 6 installation providers - all Directv.

My girlfriends parents dumped DirecTV for Dish because DTV wanted to charge them 99 bucks to upgrade their receiver, due to the new satellites being launched.

But, it changes nothing. Even though WebTV is a niche market, and I agree its easy to use and does things that a computer can do for less money, but its still a piece of crap. I've had to support them.

I'll bet there is more to it than what you're saying. Directv has never charged to upgrade equipment as technology changes. If you decide you want local channels but you have the wrong dish, they will come out with a new dish and you pay nothing. One thing that does happen is that a customer will want to add a receiver and Directv charges $50 + a service charge. Then the customer sees the other company advertising a free 4 room system. Both companies do this to each other. In Missouri, I installed many a second dish when they recently turned on the Springfield locals. All for free to the customer.

Probably. My guess is they are going through some sort of local retailer that tried to screw with them. Personally, I like DTV more than dish. It pissed me off they got rid of it, cause now there is no NFL network for me to watch when there is nothing to do on the ole farm.

I'm going to get DTV once I can get an HDTV+TIVO Receiver for a reasonable price. Until then, i'm stuck with my cable company.

Well, that's interesting. Thanks for the info. As for mine, I've had no problems with it so far. I've had it for about 6 months. The only thing they don't have as far as programming is NFL Network. I suppose ESPNU would be kinda cool, too. If Dish Network's equipment breaks down or they treat me like crap, I'll look into DTV. But as of now, I'm satisfied.

Saulbadguy

Yes...I really really really want ESPNU. As Skip said one time, I live for Sports. Cox doesn't offer anything past the basic ESPN, and their own SHITTY sports Channel that they claim is a competitor for DTV's sports channels. Cox 62 is a joke. All they show is Wichita State games.
