The new phone does not have a composer like my old one did. I could literally tune in any song I like. And I refuse to pay money for new tunes - so Nokia #2.

Actually I have this way of making the real sounds and uploading them to the phone so I can hear actual clips of songs.

Cool - Via real hard connection to your PC or somehow wireless? Also, is it like a WAP or ftp transfer?

It is facilitated through 3gupload.com that gets the files from the comptuer to the phone...

I am failing to remember the actual making of the ringtone process. It wasn't hard but was a little time consuming for what you are doing.

There is a forum with 3gupload and they talk about this stuff at length.

I don't know what the deal is now, but I paid $5 back in April last year and have unlimited downloads. They've got a huge database. It's not free, but it beats every other alternative that I know of... if you're a sucker for cool ringtones, that is... which I am.

You bet! Yeah, I have the same thing going. Every person in my favorites has their own ring... My boss has Darth Vader's theme... My wife has the Zelda Fairy theme... My buddy who loves the Simpsons has the Simpsons theme song. My other buddy has Beer by Reel Big Fish... I try to find ones that match their personality... The cool thing is that once you pay, it's unlimited downloads.

I use some of the 3G upload sites out there to get them to my phone. I just look for good sounding midi's, cut them down to 30 seconds, and then send them.

My favorite is my wife's ring for me. She hears Big Poppa (Notorious B.I.G.) when I call.

I got a clip of Still Frame by Trapt. I downloaded it from Cingular's website. It sounds overly distorted. Hard to believe I paid 2.50 for that low of quality. I was thinking of changing it to the Jayhawk fight song (I'm A Jayhawk) or the Mission Impossible theme.
