ugh.

There's a reason why we have one of the lowest payrolls in all of baseball. When Mike Sweeney occupies 1/3 of your $36M payroll, you're gonna get a lot of 1-2-3 innings.

My prediction:
Royals have the fewest RBI's in the Major Leagues

DaneMcCloud
04-04-2005, 11:54 AM
The Royals will be lucky if they have a better record than last year, given the payroll and talent (or lack thereof). I think they'll probably win only 40 games.

I'm not sure who the hell KC's hitting coach is, but he needs to teach the young guy's some freaking patience at the plate.

I can't count the number of times last year where a Royal swung at the first pitch, rather than trying to work the count.

Not a chance. We'll get 62-68 wins this year, if for no other reason that our pitching staff might win some close games. We have a very decent rotation, a serviceable middle relief and set up, and a very nice closer (s). That alone will get us more wins than last year.

I suppose the season is now over. Only 161 left to go, no reason to give the team any chance at all. A guy leaves some runners on base in the first game of the year and he is already not worth his salary, that is a brilliant and well thought out assessment of his talent. Same for the morons that are ripping Lima a new one. I guess these guys are shot and will not be worth a crap in the next 161. At the end of the season is when I would judge if someone is a failure not in the first game but of course that would take a bit of sense.

I'm still trying to figure this post out. You want them to pay money for more free agents like Gonzalez and Santiago? That's all they could possibly hope to get. Yep it must be ovious. This is team is much younger than last year which = 100+ losses AGAIN.

Yo go on telling yourself whatever you want and I will keep watching us rack up the losses.

Bottom line = no $'s spent, no talent, no talent, no wins. The rest is all chit chat to make yourself feel good about getting your ass kicked year after year.

But hey what do I know..you are obviously the baseball professional and I am just a fan.
We were young in 2003, spent about as much money as we're spending now, and had a winning record. How do you explain that one?

Sweeney, BELTRAN, Randa, Berroa a decent McDougal and some luck.

By the way how did we do down the strecth that year? Granted we had some injuries I know.

We were OK that year I wouldn't say good.

All this as I listen to Mcdougal give up a 3/2 homer...HA!

And in case you haven't noticed we have gone in reverse since 2003. But don't let that get ya down.

I think it is more of a turn and floor it type of thing.

How long is the press in KC going to be forgiving for how the Royals play this year? 1 month, 2 weeks, 6 weeks??? How long.

Eh, I'm not going to sit here and argue with you, you aren't going to be convinced. I don't think that team had any pitcher with the potential of Greinke or Bautista, and the best pitcher on that team is Runelvys, who is finally back although I think it'll take him some time to get back to it. I think it all starts with pitching, and I don't think we'll win as many games as 2003, but this team has far, far more potential down the road....

I know I'm going to get ripped up and down all season, but I like what we're doing, none of this Juan Gonzalez/Benito Santiago "ooh we're spending money" BS... go ahead and mock me. When guys like Greinke and Teahen are tearing it up in a year or two I will have the last laugh. :)

Well good. You probably shouldn't of started aruging with me in the first place. Just because someone doesn't share your opinion is no reason to start saying they don't knwo what they are talking about. We may have potential down the road. Only it will end up on the Yankees, Mets or Astros.

I like it too. From what i've been hearing is we are going to stick with developing these young guys, and try to keep them around for as long as possible. I also like the "no expectations" feeling of this season...all I want to see is these guys go out and give it their best. Maybe some magic will happen...

A lot of these guys won't be free agents until 2009-2011.... if they can't become good players by then, then we probably won't keep them, and if they do become good players, we'll have 4-5 years of a solid nucleus.

Nice shot by Pickering at the end there. From now on, I think we should intentionally walk big time power hitters when our guy is down in the count 3-0. Getting lit up like that won't get you any wins... Rather give up the walk.

Tigers: Young on pace for 486 homers

News

Tigers DH Dmitri Young hit three homers and drove in five RBI Monday against the Royals. He was a perfect 4-for-4.

Views

It's a nice way to start the 2005 campaign. While we don't think he'll hit 486 homers – actually, we sure he won't – he's made a big stride returning to his 2003 form where he hit 29 homers with 85 RBI. If he wasn't in your lineup, all we can say is, ouch!
