Literally.

He's going to be the safety officer at that scientific base at the South Pole.

I want to do that, too. I've told my wife that at some point I might get a job pushing a broom or something just so I can go to the South Pole. I'm envious of my pal.

Me too, I get to paint faux brick and an old Hamn's beer label in a pool room.

It's not in the South Pole, but it is south.

With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl.

Holy smokes. With the original post and the first three responses, we had four current or former Denver residents who are Chiefs fans. That's got to be a record.

no way, have you seen the 'the thing' with kurt russell?

Seriously, I'd go there in a minute. How many people can say that they've lived at the South Pole? You could run outside and hit every longitude in twenty seconds, so when you got back you could tell people that you've been around the world a hundred times.

no way, have you sing the 'the thing' with kurt russell.

I just want to say I have been there. Not sure I would want to stick around for any length of time though.

And once you've done that and built a couple snowmen, then what?

Ever see The Shining?

Actually, based on experience, I'd bet you were on the word 'thing' in your mind when you went to type 'seen.'
