Yeah, it does. There still aren't a lot of them on the street yet around here. I've only seen two others so far in my travels around the Chicago area.

People who have 2004 Mustangs tend to glare, not stare. I think they're really pissed off they didn't wait a year to get one. :D

A few years ago I bought a real nice express conversion van. Loved the damn thing. Bought my wife a 2001 red convertible Mustang. After two months, my wife found out she could keep her Trex mountain bike, roller bades and all her running shoes and almost everything else in the van. She turned it into a driving closet. So I no longer get to drive my van, I have no choice but to drive the Garden State Parkway at about 120 MPH every day now in the Lazer Red mustang cobra. I love flying to work, but I'd rather have my van.

Some people have luck when it comes to cops, some don't. You might want to find some wood to knock on, though.

Technically the 2005 Pony is designed like the 1967-69 Mustangs. It's not a pure redesign of a 1967 but its dang close. Did I mention that I love my new Mustang. :p

In my youth I would get pulled over about 3 times a day. Had a 68 GTO that was too fast. Couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground. As you get older, you get more experince, you learn the roads and where the cops hide, if you're off your turf you have to stay the speed limit. On my parkway ride every day, I know where the cops are located, so I get a few stretches where I can put the pedal down and have some fun.

Thanks.

The car came with red carpeted mats that wouldn't last a month without getting trashed. I got the rubber mats in it now at Walmart. They match the car perfectly.

And yes, the backseat is pretty much useless unless you're a midget. My best friend, who is 6'1", tried to sit in the back seat and couldn't even sit up straight. And forget about the legroom.

But as you said, it's not like I didn't know that going in.

Its a difficult thing when I find myself desiring a Ford product. :(
I wish the same designer would retro the new 2007 Camaro also.
I attached a pic, but I have to admit that when I first looked at it, I didnt see "Camaro" jump out at me.
Unlike the new Mustang, it really is a work of art!

Hmm... I don't know if I like that or not. It's certainly better than the later Camaros, and definitely hints a bit of the older ones. But it's rather odd looking. And WTF is up with the silly little extra lights?

Its definetly better that the previous model, that was hideous, but I'm with ya. Perhaps in person it has a better flavor toward Camaro, but I do not like the top of the car. Some of the early model Camaros had those round fog lites below the bumber up to 1973 I believe, but these look out of place.

Still, it's a step up from anything else Chevy has right now (except the Vette). And clearly it's their answer to the revamped Mustang.

I sure wish they'd went with the Chevelle, though.

aahhhh yes..... a 1970 Chevelle SS was my first introduction to real horsepower. I had never been in a car that was traveling at 50mph that you could punch it and promptly bring the rear end to the front.
Had you seen a new prototype or something?

Boy thats really odd looking, I can see a ton of lines from the 68 and 69 models, but damn it is just too rounded. I think you flatten out the front of the hood and flatted down the roof as well and it might be a real looker. But right now, just eh.

The reason I got the V6 was strictly financial. The V8 is about $5,000 more. The new car has already doubled my monthly car payment, and obviously I'm spending more on insurance and gas as is. While I would have preferred the GT, this is about all I can swing without putting myself in a bind.

And no, I've heard nothing bad about the GT.

I like your car Frazod. The new Mustangs are pretty sweet.

But I'm a Chevy guy. I'm waiting for the 2006 Monte SS; it'll have a new 5.3 liter V8 with 300 horsepower, 300+lbft of torque and rear wheel drive. But it's also going to have DOD (displacement on demand) technology. It'll run on 4 cylinders until you need more power. I believe it will get 20 mpg in the city, about the same as a large 6 cylinder.

I can't wait.

Ironically, I'm a Chevy guy, too. Up until a couple of years ago I drove a '99 Monte Carlo. The first car I ever drove was a '75 Monte Carlo.

But I don't like the new ones. In truth, I don't like any of the new Chevys other than the Corvette, and even the Vette took a hit this year with the redesign. Whatever look they're going for just ain't me.

But that engine configuration does sound interesting.

It would be cool, but I think the logistics of that might be a bit difficult to pull off....

As for the downpayment, that might work to your advantage. If you wait until the end of the summer, you might be able to get a better deal on a 2005. But hopefully you won't have to wait that long - this is definitely a summer car.

Oh I don't know if the logistics are that bad. Tank 'er up, hit the highway down here for the weekend. I'll buy the beer. :)

Hey at least the 6cyl gets good enough gas mileage that you can actually think about doing that kind of thing even with the prices as bad as they are right now.

On my last test drive, I intentionally broke the back end loose in the rain. It didn't even offer to fishtail, just kinda shivered a bit.

I'm used to the mileage of a 4 cylinder, so I personally wouldn't characterize the mileage as good. It's about the same as what my old Monte Carlo got, but gas was $2.25 a gallon when I owned it. The pump shock is taking some getting used to.

Thankfully, gas price started to drop here today. Only .03 so far, but every little bit helps.

Ah, I forgot that you got the auto tranny in that one. I keep thinking of the 29hwy they advert for the stick.

It's better mileage than my Fury.:) If I can squeeze 20mpg hwy out of that beast I'm ecstatic. lol

Well, it only took me 39 years to finally get a cool car to take and share pictures of. It's not like I haven't worked hard to earn the cash to pay for it. So excuse the f#ck out of me.

No. Mine is white with the red interior. I thought the red paint with red interior would be too much. However, I have not seen one up close so that was a guess. I am sure it still looks great. Perhaps better than the white. But I had also had a red mustang and a couple black ones, so I was due for something different.

Something unique about it is that I ordered it without a rear spoiler. I will try to get picks. But if not, it's badass. You can take my word for it. One thing the picks dont tell you is how solid and quick this car is. It is without a doubt the best Mustang yet.

Yep. My wife doesn't drive, so we just have one car. Having a Mustang as your sole means of transportation in the Chicago area is insane.

I turned 40, got my nifty red sports car, had it for a couple of years, and then came to my senses and got rid of it. It was fun while it lasted, though. Especially when I first got it and there weren't very many of them on the road yet. It was a real head-turner.

And ironically, I never did get a ticket while driving it. Got one in EVERY OTHER VEHICLE I ever owned but the shiny red Mustang. :spock:

The redesign did seem to take a lot of the bloat out of it, I may have been able to sell her on one of those. We also looked at a couple G6s, one of them was a 2005 that already had four owners. Uhhhh....no.

When I got my Impala the choice came down to it and a G6 (both a year used with similar mileage). The G6 was a GT model and had cooler options, but in the end I went with the Impala, mainly because for some reason I was able to get a better financing rate. I've heard the G6s don't hold up all that well, so I probably made the right decision.

One of the ones we looked at was a GT model and the only difference I noticed between it and the other one was that it had chrome wheels. And yeah, you made the right decision seeing that Pontiac's name became synonymous with junk and doesn't even exist anymore.

I'm scared as shit to go over the speed limit in the Mustang anyway, because the dual exhaust flowmasters probably make cops ears perk up when they go off. Might sell those, too if I can get something decent for them.

Meh, it's a v6. If I was gonna kill myself I'd do it in the Miata I test drove. That thing is asking for an accident and probably a tombstone.

I'm scared as shit to go over the speed limit in the Mustang anyway, because the dual exhaust flowmasters probably make cops ears perk up when they go off. Might sell those, too if I can get something decent for them. That bright red mustang that I own is a cop honeypot. They can't resist checking it out for something untoward going on. LMAO

Dunno how much research you did on the car but I found this interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang#Fourth_generation_.281994.E2.80.932004.29

For 1999, the Mustang received Ford's New Edge styling theme with sharper contours, larger wheel arches, and creases in its bodywork, but its basic proportions, interior design, and chassis remained the same as the previous model. The Mustang's powertrains were carried over for 1999, but benefited from new improvements. The standard 3.8 L V6 had a new split-port induction system, and was rated at 190 bhp

As far as I can gather, 0-60 is low 8s, 16 second quarter mile.

Did they bolt on any go fast parts or is this car just fer lookin?

There are times I miss my Mustang. It was one hell of a fun car. I did a few enhancements on it, exhaust w/x-pipe, performance chip and tune. The thing would haul ass. But I eventually grew tired of the stiff ride it had, fun around town or a twisty country road, kidney bruiser on road trips.

The seats were flat as shit, despite having zero cracks. When the AC went I did a sexual frustration desk flip and considered myself lucky I only lost 300 bucks on it.

She wanted 5500 and I jewed her down to 4750. Basically market value per KBB. She had to sell it fast because of family health issues.

I've been looking at several cars. I just missed a Mustang last week that had 68,000, 2005 awesome blue color, she only wanted 5750 and was 10 miles away....her phone blew up and some other asshole got it because he offered her like 6500 or something.

I jumped on this one. I was considering a couple other cars that I had driven (a volvo S40, lol), but this was the right combination of mileage, price, quality and sexy.

When I'm ready to spend a bit more I'm thinking about getting a Lincoln LS. They are very nice, and come in v8.

Why smirk at the Volvo? I had an S70 and loved that car. Early Lincoln LS had lots of trouble... beware. If you are looking for comfy with some umph... you might look at a 2009+ Buick Regal with the 2.0l turbo V6.

I liked the volvo, to be honest, but didn't feel like paying 6500 for it. Plus it had zero style, was a 4 cylinder, and had a shit stereo I would have had to replace.

Was driving a '98 Accord (original owner) with 140k miles. Needed engine work that would have amounted to $3000 total maintenance/repairs over the past 7 months. Figured it was time to get a new toy and instead use the repair costs towards a down payment.
