What would be the problem if I can dl anything fast like 280-300kb sec but loading pages is extremely slow and sometimes has to be refreshed? It has been like this a few months, i know when i unplug the modem and plug it back in it goes hella fast like it should for a few min then goes back to its normal "slow" self and when i mean slow it is slow, heck half the time i have to hit refresh, just a major lag. It always dl's files at top speed, it's very mind boggling and im ready to bitch out my ISP or is it my pc?? It used to always be superfast then one day it went down this summer and came back up and was never the same.

I am getting a new pc next week and get it up, im hoping it goes fast again like it should if not i will call up my ISP, it's just very strange how it dl's blazing and pages load slow half the time no matter what time it is etc. :deevee:

Ithink its fixed!!
http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/WinsockXPFix.exe

i dled that program, someone mentioned how using adaware and shit takes away registry shit and that restores the orig. keys to the cpu, so i think my tcp/ip winsock was ****ed up the whole time, the net is hauling major ass, as in browsing now, its always DL'ed blazing, score!!

You might want to check out this SPEED site:
SpeedGuide.net (http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php?DATA_OFFSET=40&TCP_Options_string=020405ac0103030101010402&IP_MTU_DISCOVER=0&WIN=33396&RWIN=66792&MSS=1452&SCALE=1&TTL=116&TSOPT=0&SACK_PERM=1&IP_TOS=0&IP=69.240.234.194&timestamp=1112400686)

There is a FREEWARE program that works well to optimize your Internet settings found there. SG TCP Optimizer (http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe)

This site has all kinds of Internet tools that seem to be very good......

Enjoy!

This is what I was going to suggest.

Web browsing is generally a multitude of very short, small transactions, whereas downloading large files is the opposite.

A large file transfer has more time to "train", therefore the speed increases the longer your session is. Web transactions, by their very nature, don't have time to go through that process if the TCP stack is not configured properly.
