ANALYSIS

Positives:

Has a developing frame, a natural build and long legs … Consummate team player who punts for the need of the team and is not concerned about his statistics, as he does a very good job of directional punting … Has soft hands and can field with either of them (writes with his right hand, but has learned to drop the ball with his left hand) … Has a very strong kicking leg, as he can either punt for distance or angle his kicks towards the corners and sidelines … Has a two-and-a-half step stride, with very good touch-to-toe timing (1.21-1.33 average) … Gets very good height on his boots, as the ball explodes off his leg … Is more accurate directing his punts to the left side of the field … Gets a good turn over on his punts and has no problem kicking in poor weather conditions … Keeps his cool under pressure … His leg flexibility allows him to pin the opposition on the corner.

Negatives:

A little inconsistent with his hang time (3.5-4.97 average) … Puts good power behind his kicks, but labors some getting the ball off at times … Has adequate leg strength, but poor timed speed, offering little value on the coverage team (usually the last player to get downfield).

Yeah the ball explodes off his kicks but he has no leg strenth. Ok, which is it? The guy is great but not very good.

Blow me.

Isn't the punter supposed to be the last player down the field?

How esle would we get all those hilarious highlights of punters getting juked out of their jocks?

I understand that he was great at dropping the angle kick out of bounds behind the 20. Those kicks always have lousy hang times. You want the ball to go out quickly. He has a golf mentality about kicking and that is what you want from a skill fellow. I don't expect him to be a great cover guy.

Good. Although it's kind of funny when a kicker/punter gets clocked, it'd suck to have a Chiefs specialist get hurt by streaking down the field trying to be a "real" player. Or get a penalty for a late hit (though I did laugh when Louie Aguilar would get riled up and go hit someone 3 sec. after the play was over).

Sort of like the scouting report on Fooj a few years ago (paraphrased):

"An exceptional athlete with outstanding speed... doesn't have great speed..."
