I know he's not an every down back but as a guy who could be a 3rd down back, I couldn't imagine anyone better you could run out there to run routes, catch screens or take some draws.

The guy is flat-out a bitime, homerun hitting, playmaker.

So here's the quesiton:

At what point would you take Darren Sproles if you were the Chiefs?

Poll forthcoming

Here's the Chiefs remaining picks.

Not until Marion Barber or Citrick Fason were off the board....Sproles would be an interesting 5th or 6th round pick however...Wouldn't be upset with that choice.

I would take him in the 5th or 6th round. If it was a pressing need for us, I could've seen him going in the 3rd or 4th.

NEVER. Roster spots are too valuable to waste on a midget.

I would have "wasted" one on Barry Sanders. :D

5th or 6th would be reasonable for me. He'd be a good change-of-back type of a RB whenever Priest decides to call it a career and that Larry Johnson is still in KC.

Plus, it'd be funny to pull a "Quentin Griffen" on the Donks.

The Chiefs need to continue to concentrate on defense as well as help at the WR position. The O Line is also an area that needs help. Not that I would mind seeing him picked up if it is way late...

Sanders was the exception that proves the rule. And he wasn't 5'5".

Wow that's harsh. Obviously you're not a Sproles fan.

Honestly though. Who cares how tall your RB is? I personally like them shorter. It makes them hard to see (beind an O-line) and being lower to the ground, they can make quicker cuts.

Priest Holmes by everyday standards would be considered pretty darn short at 5'9. Darren Sproles By Draft numbers is 5'6 1/2. Does 2' 1/2 inches really mattter all that much?

I haven't seen anybody with his ability to make people miss in about 4-6 years in college (or however long Dante Hall's been out).

Bob Dole would take him on the 5th.

The 5th of Never.

We've already got a Dante Hall. His name is Dante Hall.

Yeah and I'm sure glad we have his playmaking skills on our team. I wish all our guys had his gamebreaking skills.

Priest has 1 more year in him and then it's LJ as the starter. Gunna need a backup.

**** I would have taken him in the first, I don't know what the hell is wrong with carl, the broncos now have more midgets than us, we need to tip the balance back in our favor. It's been said midgets win championships.

We don't need him on this roster, so I wouldn't waste a pick on him. I think he goes in the 5th rd, but not to the Chiefs.

Where's the undrafted option?

jspchief

I chose never. We just have too many real positions of need to take a luxury pick.

Sproles (or another RB) wouldn't be a luxury pick, he'd be filling Derrick Blaylock's vacant roster spot.

Just say "No" to wasting draft picks to please the K-State homers. If the Chiefs want to invite him in as an undrafted free agent, I'll look the other way.

How about a backup that has a remote chance of someday being a full-timer and can cover kicks or block on special teams in the near term? Sproles is a luxury that we don't need (as someone else mentioned).

If you mean on the depth chart, we have Holmes, LJ, and Holcombe. Basically studs at 1 and 2 and a solid vet at 3. So what would Sproles role be? 3rd or 4th string RB? Holmes is all we need in terms of "3rd down back".

So you're adding 3rd string depth to our deepest position, while we've got starters and 2nd stringers at other positions that need upgraded. That's a luxury pick IMO.

Sproles will be a nice addition to some NFL team, I just don't think it makes sense for the Chiefs when we have more pressing needs at so many other positions.

I would have added a few choice expletives, but this is pretty much what I'm thinking.

Oops, another RB just went off the board. What is that now....7 or 8 of them selected before the Heisman Trophy candidate?

Great. The Chargers take him.

And for the record, I'm not a big Sproles fan and I don't particularly care that we didn't draft him. I don't like seeing him going to a division rival however. I do think that, in general, we do need a 3rd running back so I won't bust a nut if we draft one, although possibly that role can be filled with a free agent or one of our guys in NFLE.

I'd take Sproles with the next pick but only if the following things were to happen today.

1. Priest fell out of his chair laughing at the Donks picks and broke his neck.

2. L.J. was on the phone with his dad learning about Denver's picks. Unfortunately for L.J., he was on a flight of stairs from the basement to the main floor and lost his balance from laughing so hard that he fell down the stairs and broke his back.
