Woman gets choice: Go to jail or give up Packers tickets

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- It's a choice that could give pause to some Green Bay Packers fans.

A judge ordered an Appleton woman convicted of theft to decide whether to spend 90 days in jail or donate her family's Packers tickets next season to charity.

Sharon E. Rosenthal, 59, of Appleton, took more than $3,000 from labor union accounts before she left the organization, according to a criminal complaint. She was sentenced Friday in Winnebago County Circuit Court on one felony count of theft.

Judge Scott Woldt offered her the decision to either serve the jail time or donate her family's four seats in the Packers' three-game season package to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The jail time or the ticket donation will occur as part of Rosenthal's overall two-year period of probation. AP

Yeah. I gotta go with that.

Plus, I don't have any orange hunting gear. I don't think they let you in the stadium without orange hunting gear and a cheesehead.

Two things:

1. Easier said than done.
2. Depends on the jail. I've known a couple of people who spent time in Cook County lockup. F#CK THAT.

I'd absolutely give up the tickets.

And assuming I'm some corrupt union goon, I'll simply use the graft money they DIDN'T find to buy other tickets. Duh.

It's not even real season tickets. It's just a 3 game package.

90 days in jail or $1000 worth of tickets? I'd just treat it as a fine and pay the tickets. Hell, you'll lose that much money in wages alone.

I'd get a better lawyer.

Taking the 4 seats punishes her FAMILY not her.

I think I'd ask the judge to Eat at Joes, and appeal while waiting in the klink.

If its 3 games...I'd probably watch on TV for 3 weeks, and have 3 pissed off family members.

Cook County has got to be one of the worse fuggin jails in the country. I spent 3 days in that shithole and every minute of it truly sucked.

I'd be willing to bet the few that voted for jail time have never done any.

I need a break form the family..so being in Tx and not having access to the games like you all do. I would do the 90 days.....if I was gonna get to keep the tickets. Yea I could handle 3 months of doing nothing but sleeping, eating, reading, and watching tv....

I think I would give up the tickets. I am not partial to broom sticks. Besides it is just giving up three games, which certainly aren’t worth bodily harm.

The real answer is to file an immediate appeal, and seek a stay of the sentence pending the appeal. Then drop the appeal after the season is over, and give up the already-used ticket stubs :D

From what I gather from experienced folks, jail is worse than prison. In prison, you are assigned a job and have a daily routine that resembles real life. In jail, you sit in a little room and stare at the walls. Where's LVNHACK when you need him?

30 days in the county lockup in Rome nY

9 days in the MP lockup on base

Times have probably changed alot, but I had no problem just sitting around and reading and eating and watching tv. Oh yea...One hour a day we got to play basketball. :p That is all I did in the county lockup. Now the Army was different...I learned my lesson that time....at least until I got out of the service..ROFL
