Chicago's Section 8 is the class of MLS.

Here they were protesting the firing of longtime GM Peter Wilt:

Portland's Timbers Army is great, by the way, especially for an A-League (err, USL Division 1) side. Not the best shot, but the quickest one I could find:

And a great sign they made before a friendly against LA:

Too bad MLS apparently isn't interested in Portland for the next round of expansion. Mid-sized major cities could be the way to go, though:

Psicosis, Portland is KC size. I wouldn't call it mid-major.

DC United has the best fans in MLS. The Screaming Eagles and La Barra Brava rip up the joint.

So do they 'kick it off' are they fans or 'casual hools'?

In Argentina there is a Barra Brava for every team... Boca Juniors (my favorite team) has one and it is crazy, they kill and threaten people inside the organization for political reasons... I dont want to diminish MLS Barra Brava, But you need to know what a real one is... anyone here heard of the Chelsea Smiles... Thats the UK version...

Psicosis, Portland is KC size. I wouldn't call it mid-major.Damn, don't know why I threw in that bit. Guess I was trying to reach for a way to throw in that neat shot of the RSL inaugural game, but now that I think about it, Portland's metro is actually wuite large. Color me stupid and rushed.

So do they 'kick it off' are they fans or 'casual hools'?Fans, the vast majority of them. There really aren't any groups in the US that come even remotely close to what you'd find in Europe, as far as violence. Hell, the biggest incident in recent memory was when SJSU Campus Police started whacking LA Riot Squad members and unsuspecting Quakes fans alike because the LARS guys had the gall to stand and yell in a section which they had been told by the Quakes front office was an approved place for them to stand and yell. This was a cluster****, on the whole, because the big crowd of 27,000 forced the LARS section to be moved and put them closer to SJ fans than would have been ideal, apparently.

Happened last September, and about 15 people were eventually kicked out and hauled off.

A LARS member, I think it was SIDIO, was pulled out of his seat, WHILE HE WAS SITTING DOWN, for making EYE CONTACT with a cop. His head was smashed into the steps and he was handcuffed by the rent-a-cops. Yeah, alot of fighting back there.

Damn, Carlos, that is one huge mother****ing banner.

Fans in Argentina are amazing, in general. Looking at crowd shots in big games is almost entrancing, with all of the bouncing and movement. Hell, they shake the stadiums.

I've been to a few in "La Bombonera" when I lived there, the first time I went to a game we won 6-2 vs Huracan (now in a lower division).

The crowd was jumping up and down 45 min in the 1st half, and 45 min in the second half, haftime was chill... but you can feel the stands beneath you shaking... they are made out of concrete... it was amazing... i was standing like a sardine holding on the guy next to me and so on... it was pure adrenaline... it was a little better than a chiefs game... (I love chiefs games but nothing comes close to Argentine Soccer).
