MARVEL MOVIE ROUNDUP

The Sub-Mariner movie, with newly attached producer/director Chris Columbus, is targeted for a 2007 release, Marvel's Peter Cuneo said during a presentation on Tuesday at the 32nd Annual Media Week Conference in New York.

"We have so many characters still to be developed, still to be launched," Cuneo said.

According to Cuneo, Marvel's current pipeline of movies includes X3, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Luke Cage, Punisher 2 and Deathlok in 2006, Spider-Man 3, Sub-Mariner, Hulk 2 and Wolverine in 2007.

"If that holds, wešll literally have the problem that the year will be too big for us," Cuneo said.

Cuneo said that Marvel's contracts give studios the characters' rights for unending sequels -- with one catch. "They must make sequels within a certain time frame or they will lose the franchise," he said.

In another Media Week presentation on Tuesday, Jon Feltheimer Lion's Gate CEO, said that The Punisher was "a very profitable picture" for the company and that the film's critical family division will include two Avengers straight-to-DVD movies. "There's a whole lot of business there that's not in The Incredibles or Shark Tales," he said

Marvel should do an Incrediblesesque animation movie of the Secret Wars.

I thought I saw that they were working on bringing the Silver Surfer to the big screen, as well.

One can only hope i was a huge Sliver surfer fan when i was a kid.

I love Marvel comics.... but come on....Sub-Mariner...he is such a second tier lamo excuse for a comic book character.....

Iron man has potential....

Ghost Rider....Nick Cage...gimme a break

Hulk 2...I'll pass on the CGI..gimme the Gray Hulk from the ultimates any day...speakin of ultimates..there is an ultimates cartoon coming out straight to DVD...Holla Holla

X3...gimme Beast...gimme Angel...gimme Collosus...gimme Emma Frost...Grrrrr

Actually, it's Luke Cage, or his real name, Carl Lucas, or as the kiddies on the street know him, Cage. Geez, don't you know your comics? :rolleyes: He's a hero for hire who had strength testing done on him in prison. I wonder if Iron Fist will make an appearance. :hmmm:

I want Gambit too. At one point in X2 you see the name Remy LeBeau go by on the computer screen when Mystique brings up Strikers file. I felt like a huge nerd for noticing it.

I was really hoping they'd go with the Grey Hulk in 2. I still don't understand how anyone can fault the CGI, I though it was amazing. To me the absolutely lethargic and mailed-in performance of Eric Banna was what made the movie a stinker.

I'd love to see a Vegas "Mr. Fixit" version on the big screen.

They actually do some foreshadowing right at the end of X2 to give that away. They show a shot of the lake where Jean Grey drowned and an outline of a phoenix appears in the water.

They'll probably go more into Iceman and Pyro in the next movie as well.

I read that Thomas Hayden Church (Sideways, Lowell Mather from "Wings") has been cast to play a villain, although they don't say which one. I see Green Goblin II as the other villain.
