My parents never smiled, because I had brain damage. My wife and I don't smile because our children are LOADED with it. Oh, my parents smile *now*...whenever they come over to the house and see how much trouble I'm having. Oh, they have a ball! 'Having some trouble, huh, son?'...

--Bill Cosby

This thread's for you, John and Becky...long may you, uh...wave. Or something. Whatever. I was always better at drinking the toast than making them.

So my grandson is due to make his appearance on planet Earth in the next 24-48 hours. I wish he'd hurry--I could use the sleep.

Grandparent. It seems as odd and unlikely a concept to attach to myself as 'parent' was 23 years ago...

You still type like a 20 year-old. Remember, you're only as old as you type into the Chiefsplanet calendar.

Is Floridapappy a new name for ya? Fair is Fair..Seriously, its the best feeling in the world, I think I was more overwhelmed with emotions when my daughter had her baby than I was with my own.

Is this your first? Congrats.

Congrats. Now you can spoil 'em and send 'em home!

I just pray that it will be several years before I attain that status (oldest is 17).

1. I think not.

2. It's weird, but as it's coming down to the wire, I think it is even more overwhelming than the birth of my son. I don't know why, but it is...

3. Yes, my first.

4. Thanks, Gloria...

I see statements like this sometimes, and I think, "Wow, I had no idea that hydre (or whomever) is older than me", and then I remember that I'm 42 years old and, if not for a well-timed depressing thought on a quiet country road about Todd Blackledge being drafted instead of Dan Marino, I could be the father of a 22 year-old. That freaks me out bad.

Heh, I think I've aged 20 years in the last 24 hours--It was yesterday that my son told me that the birth was imminent.

You're not out of the woods yet. I was 43 when my daughter was born.

Congratulations.

My fourth grandbaby was born May 3. I now have 2 girls and 2 boys.

Being a grandparent is great. I enjoy it much more than I ever dreamed - and we provide daycare for our kids to help them out with the $$$$ - and wouldn't change that for anything.

Enjoy this. It really is fun.

I am 43 now trying to push my middle step son out the door. Looking forward to my daughter striking out on her own.

If my wife got pregnant now I think I would shoot myself. I would definatey shoot the fugger that got her pregnant. I got myself fixed after I got divorced and before I got some fling knocked up.

For that moment you'll be king of the world. Enjoy.

Dunno. I forgot to ask my son about that last night. Frankly, I was disappointed that they did the test that revealed the baby's sex. I prefer that to be a surprise at birth. But, oh well...

It is still a 50/50 chance, no matter what the docs say. I was told all 3 times it was probably a girl, I have 3 boys.

Maybe they had very small penises like your husband. It's not like the doctors had a microscope.
