I am surpised those things are allowed on the streets. The old motor scooters aren't and I don't see any difference other than just styling.

What exactly is a Pocket Bike? Is it kind of like a moped?

It's a Big Wheel with a real motor in it, that's ridden by people who have an inverted sense of dignity. It's a mild fad here in Denver.

Seriously, I have never seen one until Kevin posted it. They look like death magnets. What's top end on those things?

Once again, darwinism in action.

I have also seen them cruising around the parking lot out at the stadiums before royals games many times

Actually, I was under the impression that you didn't have to tag anything under 50cc. I may by wrong, but I think they get linked into the moped catagory because of the small engine and the assumed low speeds - though I've seen some fly by rather quickly.

Well, I gotta say running a stop sign on a pocket motorcycle is retarded. Survival of the fittest at its ugliest.

The bike along is stupid. Then you add THAT guy riding it. Words cannot describe this atrocity.

I saw a story in the Star not long ago that said they weren't legal on either side of the state line. Some of them can be modded to go like 35-40 mph I think.

In any case, what kind of idiot rides them in the normal flow of traffic? You're 3 feet tall, how is someone in a blazer or any other of the monstrous vehicles people are driving these days going to see yet?

They can go pretty fast, close to 40 miles an hour. They sell them every weekend on the corner of 63rd and Raytown road at the hardware store, and a lot of the kids in our neigborhood have them. We have had several adults hurt on them, because you are going 30 miles an hour, hit a bup, and a fat guy riding it makes it a little top heavy and they flip over pretty easy.

I've seen teenagers riding them in with the rest of traffic up north... I don't know why little bike = no need for a helmet in these people's minds... 40mph is 40mph. More than enough to have some firetruck washing your brain smear off the pavement.
