Saw it tonight. A few observations:

1. Damn, I didn't know Courtney Cox had such nice titties.
2. Romo is still a homo.
3. There still are retards who clap in the theaters for no apparent reason.
4. Chris Rock is funny, so is Rob Shneider.
5. A big black dude acting like a baby - isn't.
6. Tracy Morgan as a prison girl is also funny.

Overall, a decent flick. Not nearly as funny or cool as I expected, but worth the $7, IMO.

Hey, Chris Rock and Sandler are usually pretty funny. The coolness factor was expected from the famous FB players' cameos.

That's just what I was about to ask you. That was the final point in Simmons' column, that it occured to him that there was probably a whole generation of people that had no idea that this was a remake of what is generally regarded as one of the most famous sports movies of all time.

I realize that, but still... I'm sure you're not alone. That's the reason Burt Reynolds was even in the movie, he was the star of the original... played by Sandler's character today.

They shouldn't have cast Sandler for that role. I read a writer in the SF Examiner who nailed the comparison to casting Matthew LeBlanc for Rocky and Dave Chappelle for Apollo Creed.

Looking at the cast it reminds me of the Cannonball Run where they take a bunch of stars and throw them in a movie to draw an audience. Except with this they desecrated a classic (although I haven't seen it, I can only imagine.)

I saw the original and in my book the lastest one is definitely hillarious! Don't get me wrong I like the first one but this one is to much. I have read some of the reviews and some peoples comments and it seems that people are going to see the movie with preconcieved notions and when they don't happen they say it was not a good movie. Damn! That is what it is a movie. Go enjoy it with no notions sit back and enjoy. Kind of sounds like people talking about Star Wars also.

So how was Stone Cold Steve Austin? I hear he was actually pretty good in the movie. Come to think of it, all the Rasslers in the WWE have Screen Actors Guild cards. :p
I saw a segment on some show while I was flipping thru channels today and I caught a interview with Sandler and Rock and they were saying that Austin was a natural and he'd make a great action/adventure star.

OK, I loved the first one, and now that the "so called expert critics" has trashed this flick, (as did they trash Karate Kid, and so many more movies that come to mind) I’m gonna love the remake too.

Kinda like how I truly enjoyed watching Paparazzi last night.

I saw it last night. I liked how they kept the same characters (for the most part) and the same story line, but updated the plays, etc. There were a lot of quality football players in it (Michael Irvin, Romonowski, Brian Bosworth, etc...) Overall I thought it was worth the price of admission.

North Dallas Forty had some great lines and characters,Jo Bob was hilarious.

Jo Bob:Where's your gun, Elliott?
Phil Elliott: Freud says that guns are an extension of your dick, Jo Bob.

Jo Bob:I've never seen titties like yours. Could I show your titties to my friend O.W.?

Jo Bob:I love your legs. They got your feet at one end, and your pussy at the other, and I wanna f*ck you.

it was a very good movie IMO, the soundtrack was good,
and sandler's Production company made the film so he was going to play the part, he worked with sean salisbury on the nuances of being a QB, and looked Really good doing the part. plus his brand of comedy was perfect for the roll. ive seen the original and this one is just as good if not better. It's easily one of the top 5 football movies in the last 20 years.

I just saw it over the weekend. Really tried hard not to come in with pre-conceived prejudice towards this remake, since the original is one of my all-time favs. Alas, I failed...

This actually was a pretty good movie, with some very funny scenes. It was much less football, and a lot more comedy, which is what I expected. My main source of dissappointment was the guards just absolutely were not near the compelling characters of the original. They pretty much sucked.

I hear ya. I have said for quite a while that there is very little original thought anymore. These remakes are targeted at the baby boomers and their need to reach their childhood. Enough burps and farts and, hey!, we'll take the kids! You just watch. Hollywood might even remake Herbie.

Another remake coming out later this summer im real interested in is "Bad News Bears" the original was also one of my faves growing up. Its actually IMO one of the best baseball movies ever made. I have hopes because its directed by Richard (Dazed and Confused, Before Sunset, School of Rock) Linklater. I have a feeling hes talented enough to actually make something fresh out of the material.
