So I'm trying to sell my stereo on Ebay. It's been up for a few days. Today I get this e-mail:

hello seller. i am interested in purchasing your item to my store in africa i will be paying you through westernunion(bidpay) if you accept this offer mail me your fullname contact address so that i can make the payment on time. as soon as the payment is made i want you to shipp out the item through royalmail /dhl or ups and get back to with the shippment tracking number .and as soon as you see the confirmation letter that your money is approved by them shippout the item immediately thanks

Obviously this guy is trying to rip me off or just get ahold of my address, or something. I actually went ahead and calcuated the shipping charges to africa. Turned out to be over $1800. I reply:

Where in africa do you live? I'm going to have to calculate the shipping for such a process, which will naturally be quite expensive as the item is 80 lbs. I won't be paying the shipping either. You'll also have to win the auction on Ebay.

I got this a couple minutes ago.

thanks for your fast respond okay i am sending the item to my new store in nigeria okay and i want you to mail me your fullname and contact address so that i can make the paymnet and as soon as bidpay mail you the confirmation letter and the reicept of my payment made by them kindly shippout the items because the item is neededfast in my store okay.
thanks

And replied:

I'm sorry, sir, but you'll need to actually WIN the
auction on Ebay first. Please bid on the item if you
wish to purchase it. Thank you.

Anyway, I'm not sure what's going to come of this, but I do know two things:

1. He's not getting my address.

2. No one would pay $1800 shipping for a stereo.

Instead of payment, you should just ask about partnering with him to transfer money from his dead president's bank account.

It be a scam.

lol...You're gonna love this. I received nearly that exact same email when I sold my PDA on ebay. His shipping address listed with ebay was in the UK, however; he wanted me to send it to Nigeria. He said he'd be transfered there to work in a casino. I wrote him and gave him a choice of 5 shipping estimates. He took the highest priced option which was like $190.00. His big deal was "hurry hurry...quick quick." Before I could even email him back with my address, ebay sent me an email telling me to stop doing business with said fellow and relist my item for free. So, I did and here's what I get from this fruit loop a week or so later.

"Hello kind sir...I would just liek to lete you know that I have changed my ebay address to nigeria and would like to pay for the item now."

I write him back and tell him that ebay told me to relist the item because his account was terminated.

"no sotch thing happend. I am still on ebay or else how could I send you this. You are a fake lier seller. I will send you the money right now still pleaase let me have the item I won from you."

I emailed him back and told him that I was going to tell ebay he was pestering me. He writes back:

"you are scum and bad with business. I will inform the governor of your area about your shady business and you will be sorry. You can still send me the item and i will not contanct the goverenor but this is yourre only chance. Please resopnd. I have money right now"

I emailed him back and told him to go ahead and contact the "governor of my area" and that some guy in College Station, Texas was enjoying the hell out of the PDA that he lost out on weeks earlier. He wrote back one last time pleading with me to send him the PDA he won.

"sir I have not yet contacted the governor but I will be forced too very soon if you dont accept my payment and sendd me me my item. uhh ohh can you year him. Thats the governeor comingdown your lane to gather up my item. please Sir let me purchase the item I won from you and none of this will have to happne. THank you!"

I emailed him back and ended the whole ordeal with this:

"Hello,

GOOD NEWS!!! I've decided to send you the item.......

NOT!

Leave me the hell alone. Unlike your weak petty threats, I've actually carried mine out. I've sent all the correspondence between the two of us over the past few days to ebay. Later pal. Good luck with your Nigerian Casino. Steer clear of those Lions and Tigers....They're mean.

Regards,

xxxxxxx"

He never wrote back. I was kinda disappointed. Of course I didn't send this crap to ebay. I'm too damn lazy to do that.
