I'm taking my kids to Branson later this month. I'll be coming from KC. What's the quickest route to get there? 71 South-44 to Springfield-65 into Branson?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on where you are starting out! From what it looks like from your post, 71 to 7 to 13 to 44 to 65. Don't take 71 all the way to 44, that would be dumb. Take 7 to 13 through Clinton and 13 south to Springfield.

What Denmark said this is the fastst way. 71 to 44 take you out of your way, far out of your way.

Thanks all for the information!

We're going to Silver Dollar City and staying at the Holiday Inn Express (on the strip) in Branson.

If you are going to Steal your Dollar City I would go in the back way on 13 highway.

If you are going to Steal your Dollar City.........

That bad, eh?

I haven't been since I was kid, 30+ years ago. I've had friends who took their kids and they said it was a blast. Anyway, I bid on a trip at my son's school auction and won the thing. So, go or don't go, I've already paid up. My kids are pumped about going, so that's all that really matters.

I've been twice this year already. Don't get me wrong, I like the place but find the hordes of people to be quite annoying. They have a couple of good roller coasters now and your kids will have a blast so it will prolly be worth while. I went to White Water (waterpark) last saturday and was amazed at the talent level. I'll beg the kids to go back there over SDC any time. :)

I saw the stuff on White Water. That looked pretty cool. Have you been to Celebration City? Better or worse than SDC?

I haven't but my kids go with my ex all the time. They love it but keep in mind that they are 6 and 8 years old so YMMV.

71 South, turn left on 52, once thru Appleton City look to turn right on A.
Take A to 13 and turn right on 13, take 13 thru Springfield.
Continue on 160 (you will go by Bass Pro Shop, don’t stop unless you have about 6 hours and a wad of cash to spend) to Reed Springs
Turn left at the T. Drive thru Reed Springs (past the UFO museum and the crazy house with the landscaping, trust me you’ll know when you see it) continue to 65.
Turn right on 65 and head south. Turn left on 76 and fight the traffic.

Good luck and have fun.

You don't have to go through Reed Springs any longer. They bypassed it a couple of years ago.

You should check out Sheherd of the Hills outdoor theater. It's a nice alternative to a country show. It used to be a nice experience. Although I haven't been there in over 10 years.

It was some kind of accident, my source claims he was in a helicopter crash up in the NW while working in the logging industry.

There are also some other wild stories floating around about the guy.

Isn't that interesting. All those years I drove by there. I wonder of he has a hook for a hand as well.

Thats what I kind of remember hearing about, I think it was him and his wife with a 16 year old runnaway or something like that.
I kind of remember hearing about him having a large porno collection, that would make Larry Flint proud.
