It's now at the end of my 49th birthday, and I am feeling pretty good right now....we finished moving into the new house. I've got the "Mmaddog Man-Cave" all set up with my computer, the TV hooked up to DirecTV, the sofa-bed, a small fridge, a popcorn maker, and all my Chief's & Royal's memorabilia adorning my walls and shelves. (With a few Disney relics thrown in also).

Life's pretty good right now, although I am keeping a wary eye out for the freight train just in case. :)

Happy b-day.

When was your last physical? If you're anything like me there has to be something drastically wrong.

Funny you should mention that...I had my last physical in February (you using two fingers or the whole fist Doc?) and had to have a couple of issues addressed. Nothing major, just things that normally needed tune-ups.

Happy B-Day. mmaddog.

Don't remind me of the upcoming PSA. I'm nearing 48.

It sounds like your family is doing everything they can to make your sunset years comfortable. That's nice of them.

Almost a half a century huh? A lot has happened since then. Think how much you've seen change. Okay, here are two questions for you. In your almost 50 years of living on earth, what's the coolest thing you've seen? And what's something you could never think happening in your life that has (the most shocking thing, I guess)?

The coolest thing I have seen...corny as it may seem, the birth of my children. It's so amazing to think that the tiny little human being has been surviving inside a human body.

The most shocking....several, but the one that immediately comes to mind is the falling of the Berlin Wall. That's one I would never have believed would happen in my lifetime. Second would be the assasinations of John & Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King, along with the attempted assasination of Ronald Reagan.

There are so many in my lifetime that it's hard to pin one down. There are many others that qualify as "triumph or tragedy"

Tragedy:

Watergate
9/11 Tragedies
Challenger Crashes
AIDS Epidemic

Triumph:

Moon Landing
Polio Vaccine
Organ Transplants
The Internet

Actually, the Salk vaccine was a little before your time. July 12, 1952 is the date generally accepted as the first widespread use of it.

I was thinking more along the line of when the Salk vaccine finally achieved its purpose...
