The "Rescue Me" season premiere for season 2 is tonight at 9 central on FX. During Season 1 it quickly became my favorite show other than Deadwood. It's a great show based on NY firefighters starring Dennis Leary, who is surprisingly good in the lead role.

Real World: Austin debuts at the same time on MTV. I hope FX opts to replay Rescue Me again a hour after the original showing like last season, so I can watch both.

Resuce Me, BEST SHOW ON TV!!!!!!!!!!

Watched it all last season, TiVo'ed all the repeats this year. My girlfriend has decided that Dennis Leary's charecter, Tommy Gavin, was based on me. A misserable pick, drunk, with women problems.

I love this show.

Rescue Me is alright. But not the greatest, IMO. I can take it or leave it. It's too bad that The Shield is gone and Rescue Me is in its slot until 2006. :(

I just like eating good food. I think I have finally decided on a smoker too. I think I am going to go with the Traeger pellet electric smoker. There is a meat shop here where they wallpaper their place with state and national titles they have won for their products and many of them are for smoking. He said at home he goes with a traeger because it goes all the way up to 500 degrees and you can sear with it. Add to the that the fact that they have a ton of different woods you can use or combine and they are easy and convenient sold me. He said he should carry them as he moved over 20 in the last year and everyone loves them. If anyone is interested the sight to get them at is www.traegersmokehouse.com

How's that for hijacking a thread?

For those of you who regularly watch and missed the early episode tonight, be sure you tune in now to catch the replay on FX. Unbelievable episode to set us up for next week's season finale. Enjoy.

Not sure "enjoy" is the right term, but it was an amazing episode.

I don't think I've seen so much bad shit happen in one episode of any show. I don't know that I've seen that much bad shit happen in a season of another show.

They sure did a good job spoiling the ending in the commercials though. Also as the series continues, you have to wonder how many times they can rebuild and destroy Tommy Gavin's life before it gets played out.

They sure did a good job spoiling the ending in the commercials though.I hate the way they do that with this show. You can't watch the previews, because they give away everything. Makes no sense.

I've only watched this show twice, but I answered the phone at the wrong time and missed the ending just a minute ago.

Highlight below for a question from a show n00b who got distracted at the wrong time:

errr... nevermind. I can't get it to work right.

It was good, but paled in comparison to last week, IMO. And, I thought season finales were supposed to wrap up loose endings. Not this one...we're left hanging more than ever and we have to wait until 2006 for more...UGH!

I have just recently started watching this show and I must say that it is superb. The writing is very impressive and the cast seem to really blend well. The episode that hooked me a couple of weeks ago was when Denis Leary's character found out his brother was going out with is ex-wife and beat the hell out of him. I think I would rate this show above anything HBO is doing as of late.

This weeks episode was pretty good, set up next week. Next week's looks real juicy!!!!

and really, how much does dennis leary love his job. he basically writes a whole scene of him making out, grabing the ass, and molesting the boobs of marissa tomme. must be a tough day at work when doing that scene. I love his faces when they get done kissing, it’s a riot.

"Wow, you have one ugly baby. I mean she could grow up to be hot, but there is no reason to show her off now"

line of the night:

lou is drinking with his uncle and having a huge glass of whiskey

"can i have a beer chaser or something?"

"for christ's sake its dark outside!!!!!!!"

and how hot is janet? just once i want someone to show up at my place wearing just heels and underware under a coat, just wanting to bang my brains out!

another good line:

Lou: your father pissed the bed again
tommy: uh huh
lou: ok, i'm gonna sh*t on the floor
tommy: ok, whatever
lou: or.......puke on the couch.......decisions, decisions

So I've never watched one episode of this, but would like to hop on the bandwagon. Have I missed too much, or do I have a chance at jumping on midstream?

Tommy Gavin: You want to know how big my balls are? My balls are bigger than two of your heads duct-taped together. I've been in the middle of shit that would make you piss your pants right now. Uptown, downtown, Harlem, Brooklyn. But there ain't no medals on my chest, asshole, 'cause I ain't no hero. I'm a fireman. We're not in the business of making heroes here. We're in the business of discovering cowards, 'cause that's what you are if you can't take the heat. You're a pussy, and there ain't no room for pussies in the FDNY.

Awesome show....

Hard to tell how much of the humor derives from knowing the characters well, and how confusing their effed up relationships would prove diving in cold. But then again, I've often enjoyed episodes without thinking about the backstory and the subtext until later.
I think it'd be entertaining to jump on the bandwagon, then you could just pick up the past seasons in the mean time to get you up to speed.

Are you kidding me?????? Only two episodes left this season???? God Damn.

Last night was off the hook.

Watching Chief Reily fool around with the nurse was a little bit uncomfortable. Its like watching my grandfather hook up with someone. And having her run out on him at the end, when he was having a heart attack enfuriated me.

Franko and Tess' brother was funny "I think we both have something in common. We are both smarter than we look."

I didn't see Johnny getting shot, but the fact that they were actually focusing on him for a whole scene and it had nothing to do with Janet or Tommy I knew something was going to happen, like him getting blown by the driver or showing him as a crooked cop. I just didn't think they would kill him off.

The line of the night:

Shiela: "I didn't know Lou was Catholic"

Tommy: "Ya, he kinda got into it last night."
