I don't anticipate that this would ever happen, but if the NFL replaced the regular football with a similar version that was covered with two-inch nails, do you think it would cause more fumbles (because players wouldn't be able to grip it) or fewer fumbles (because it would impale itself on players' hands)?

As an open-ended question, how do you think it would affect the passing game?

I'm not sure about the passing game, but kickers' stats would probably go down.

I can just see running backs having holes put into their hands for the spikes to fit into. However, the holes would have to be kind of loose so I think the number of fumbles would increase.

Players would start covering areas that touch the ball with mail made by Dwarfs. The kind that Frodo was wearing.............
