Just finished with some hot yard work and now after a shower I'm sitting here with a cold margarita and ready to relax.Ok,I'm bored, but humor me.

Last night I watched Al Pacino in Serpico for the first time in many years and had forgotten how great of a movie it was.Anyhow,it got me to thinking about my favorite actors and some of my favorite movies by them and of course I wanted to see what the Planet responses would be to the question.

I'm with you on Pacino, he's got to be #1 or at the very least in the top 3 of my list.

I've found that even in movies that aren't the best I can still enjoy a quality acting job by some of the actors I like.

Paul Newman - Cool Hand Luke

Warden: YOU'RE GOIN' TO GET USED TO WEARIN' THEM CHAINS, LUKE, BUT YOU NEVER STOP LISTENIN' TO THEM CLINKIN'. THEY'RE GOING TO REMIND YOU OF WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYIN'... FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. Luke: WISH YOU'D STOP BEING SO GOOD TO ME. Warden: DON'T YOU EVER TALK THAT WAY TO ME. NEVER! NEVER! WHAT WE'VE GOT HERE IS FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE. SOME MEN YOU JUST CAN'T REACH. SO YOU GET WHAT WE HAD HERE LAST WEEK, WHICH IS THE WAY HE WANTS IT. WELL, HE GETS IT. I DON'T LIKE IT ANY MORE THAN YOU MEN.

I stand corrected, I think you are right. I gotta watch it again now, it seems like that is repeated a few times. I probably have not watched it in 10 ro 12 years. It came out around 1990 I think.

I am predisposed to like the gearhead movies though, thus the love for Days of thunder.
For me, Duvall in Days of Thunder is the equivalent of DeNiro in Rocky and Bullwinkle, or Nicholson in Mars Attacks.
The depth of my derision for that movie knows no end. It's a fricken formula movie, Top Gun for RedNecks.
Fer Chrissakes, Duval has a long soliloquy about how he's gonna hand craft a car for Mr. Thetan-free. "Ahm-ah gonna take some sheet metal, and ah'll shave it here, and slope it there, bend it and lower it, and love it and call it George."
Then somehow they take to the track with a car looking a d@mn site like a Chevy Lumina. Huh???
And don't get me started on the stellar in-race dialog.

Thetan-free: I'ma gonna pass him.
Duval: Don't do it.
T-F: I will
Duval: dang it, dont.
T-F: OK, ah'm passin' him.
Duval: Well Ah'll be dawged.

If you want a Duval performance for the ages, it starts and ends with 'The Apostle.'

Can't watch the ending sermon without tearing up. Then tearing up again when he has the chain gang singing spirituals over the credits.
