Alot of people enjoyed this on my site so I thought id post it here. This happened the other day.

There is a AA baseball park near my house. It is a great stadium and I love having everything so close but parking is a mess. My street which generally has ample parking for its residents, is filled with vehicles of people going to the game. This usually is not a problem because my apartment has an underground parking garage that has a garage door so I always have a space to go too, until now. The other people in my apartment complex seem to enjoy keeping the garage door open so folks think they can roll right in and park. I guess they thought parking a BMW and a Lexus wouldn’t look awkward in a place filled with college kids. I figure tonight would be a good time to get my revenge.

Above the garage looking down into the street is a courtyard. I sat there with a friend of mine (garage door opener in hand) after the game ended and waited for some people to get in their car to leave. A few minutes went by and some people started walking close to the complex; they looked pretty well off and it seemed as though they were coming from the baseball game. As they got closer to the garage it was obvious they were one of criminals stealing our precious parking spots. We hid out of view and watched as they talked and inched closer to the parking garage and then at the perfect time I hit the button. They were startled by the garage closing out of the blue. The lady tried to make it under the closing door Indiana Jones style but the guy basically said “**** it.” He was so pissed; he started an interesting string of obscenities. I thought about opening it back up again but I wanted to make them sweat a little. I imagine if this was a bad enough experience they would tell their friends not to park in the Waldorf parking garage. I proceeded to open it which got a “thank god” reaction from the female only to close it again 2 seconds later. Some more time passed and other people who had parked inside walked up to the closed garage and were very annoyed at the scene. The couples were talking to each other and bitching about it as if their cars were supposed to be in there. I ended up opening it and letting them back to their nice cars so they could go back to their nice homes.

But let this be a lesson…stay out of the Waldorf parking garage if you know whats good for you!

I think you let them off easy. I'd have installed a frick'n massive padlock on the doors and charged them $150 to get their cars back - plus $25 a day storage.

I love the place.

I would to, its a nice street. I have friends that live on Hampton Street, they have the same problems. Nice thing is I get a sweet parking spot for baseball games.

Thats what most people who left comments on the post said. ENDelt left some ideas...

You’re too nice. I’d just make a habit of closing the door every time I saw it open. If someone got their car stuck in their, **** ‘em. I’d definitely have to go out after a game to witness the carnage. Maybe even pose as a clueless passerby.

“Say, folks… what’s going on here?”
“We parked our cars in this garage, and now we can’t get to them.”
“Man, that sucks. Say, I think this is some sort of private garage. Looks like y’all kinda ****ed yourselves there.” walk away whistling

If you really wanted to be a dick, you could sit at the entrance, charge people five bucks to park, then after the game starts close the door and leave.

Ya, I don't have a problem when the street is filled up, but when people come into my parking...it just pisses me off. :)

A problem in downtown Memphis is people who'll pose as employees in vacant parking lots, going as far as wearing the same uniforms that the real parking lot employees wear, then collect money from people parking and leave.

This is an especially popular scam during Redbirds, Grizzlies, or Tigers basketball games, but a regular old hopping night is also a ripe time for them.

Hey man, that's easy money. Most definitely. I almost want to say, "More power to them."

If they were real smart, they'd erect a sign that reads, "Valet".That's a tougher ballgame, though. ROFL
