<A name=241452>Chiefs | Trying to get Green to Slow Down
Tue, 26 Jul 2005 09:18:54 -0700
Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star (http://www.kffl.com/link/142), reports the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) are trying to get QB Trent Green (http://www.kffl.com/player/989/nfl) to slow down during training camp. Green went from the Chiefs' 7-9 season in 2005 to the weight room to 10 added pounds of muscle to throwing, throwing and throwing. His shoulder eventually ached. The coaches eventually intervened. That will not happen at training camp, at least not when offensive coordinator Al Saunders (http://www.kffl.com/player/7811/nfl) and head coach Dick Vermeil (http://www.kffl.com/player/7810/nfl) are watching. Vermeil said Monday that the Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) will monitor and control Green's repetitions during training camp. "It depends on how he feels," Vermeil said, "but it could mean he'll throw in the morning and all of a sudden take the afternoon off. It could mean all of a sudden he doesn't throw at all one day. We run a massive offense, and he needs reps in all of it, but we'll monitor it so he doesn't get too many." Green said he's worked out with his receivers five of the last six days and that he feels good.
=================
This is a good "problem" to have. Green has turned out to be a class act.
