Taking Part in Morning Drills
by Nick Athan of WarpaintIllustrated.com, July 29, 2005 at 9:31am ET

After conducting an extensive workout for Chiefs officials and medical personnel after Thursday's practice, veteran linebacker Scott Fujita is taking a full turn in Friday mornings practice. He's been cleared by doctors to practice and that's good news for the Chiefs.

With first round draft pick Derrick Johnson still unsigned, Fujita will battle it out with second year linebacker Keyaron Fox to start opposite free agent acquisition Kendrell Bell for a starting position.

Fujita had minor ankle surgery in the spring after learning that he played injured for part of the 2004 regular season; both he and the Chiefs felt it was best to have the 15 minute procedure done so he'd be ready for the 2005 season.

There was some thought that he’d be out longer but he’s ahead of schedule and back on the practice field for the Chiefs this morning.
