Panthers | Close to Signing Davis

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers are close to agreeing to terms with rookie S Thomas Davis. They could have a deal in place by Friday, July 29, and he is expected to take part in their training camp practice Saturday, July 30.

that's a good contract for the team...$2 mill a year? no problem and DJ will be slightly less...

I guessed Aug 1 earlier in the week...sounds like that's got a good chance of happening.

If he signed during the weekend, can he practice even though the contract wont be recieved until the NFL offices open on Monday? Never sure how that works.

I know that the NFL has to receive the contract and 'bless' it as well...see the Hakim deal.
