So the lowdown for the Vikings would be 650 lbs of defensive tackles and a much improved secondary. This defense should be effective (except against the 3 tight end set runs to the outside to get those tackles having to shuffle). But this is offset by the loss of Randy Moss who made the passing game effective. And with the loss of their running back for the season suspension I wonder if Culpepper will be able to do the passing thing to make up for the losses.
This will be a good test for the defense to get some confidence on the field. And we will find out on offense if the Chief's line really is in decline. The WR should also get a good try out.

The only meaningful part of any preseason game is when the starters for both teams are on the field. In this game, maybe the first half of the first quarter. Once the scrubs start coming in, the position coaches will probably learn something but, for the rest of us, it's just a bunch of so-so guys running around the field. We won't learn much about our real team.

That said, I'M READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!

I just hope they don't do anything stupid and leave DJ out there in the last preseason game-in the last minute like they did Kris Wilson last year. Wilson was supposed to be a new weapon and we had him in the last minutes of a meaningless game in Dallas last year. I agree, we can't afford to lose any of our stars. I wouldn't even play any starters past maybe two series if that. That astroturf is brutal.

There is no more turf in the NFL. The Vikings got rid or their turf surface last year, and the Rams and Colts both switched to field turf this offseason. Now there is no more astro turf in the league, thankfully.

You can't play scared of injuries. Play, and play hard... Preseason games don't hurt people any more than regular practices do, but preseason games are definately better learning experiences than regular practices. Therefore, I say play the Derrick Johnsons and Junior Siaviis MORE. The risk of injury isn't any more, but the payoff is MUCH better to give them reps in a game situation. We also need to find out wich of our linebackers can get out there and make the plays.
