.. I didn't get to watch much golf today. But Mickelson is one of 6 guys at -3 on top of the leaderboard. I saw wher he drained a couple of looong putts

Vijay is at E and Woods is 9 shots back after a +5.

That approach shot that Kenny Perry knocked in on 17 was pretty crazy. Hit the pin pretty high and somehow managed to go in. Dont think i have seen anything like it.

Pretty good first round so far. Id really like to see Davis Love continue to play well.

Thomas Bjorn is on fire. If he birdies hole 18 he'll finish at 62.

WilliamTheIrish

My mistake. He birdied for a 63. Ties the lowest score in a major.

Somehow the big fatty has regained the lead. I think it's mostly due to Elk's poor play.

They gag away two more shots and this'll be a 5 man playoff.

Crap. Lightening delay.

It's been fun watching WTI becoming a golf addict.

Crazy ain't it?

I'm pulling my hair out today. My bothers and myself got off to an early start today. We were having fun and finished the 16 hole when my oldest brother says, "'Liam, you are sitting at 76 as we speak. Two par 4's to play. Could break your PB of 86."

I promptly gag (Mickelson style :) the last two holes. Triple bogey 17 followed by a snowman on 18, for a robust 91.

It was so fitting. F'n game. I'm playing for nothing and my ass is clenching trying to get a PB. Those guys are playing for a gazillion $'s and on worldwide TV.

Don't know how they handle the pressure.

this is embarassing for golf. Woods barely makes the cut being 12 back of Phil and now he is in contention to win. The field tried to give phil this tournament, but now he is going to have to earn it. Kudos to Woods who never gives up and is always thinking that he can win. a probable top 5 finish is remarkable considering where he was two days ago.

That's how I like my majors, brutal. :)

I wish I had the talent to hit two shots, 2nd shot an iron, and knock it past the green on a 650 yard hole like Woods did on 17. That was amazing.

Damn, great Golf today... I think this is an advantage to the current players on the field, they will water down the greens and make them much playable...

Woods had a small chance for a playoff if they would have finished it today... the Par 5's had the wind in the players face for the first time (after Tiger Finished) and I dont think anyone other than Vijay to have had a chance for tap in birdies...

The winning score will be @ -5 and watch Vijay to have 2 good eagle opportunities tomorrow if the conditions are better...

I still cant believe what Tiger did:

+5 end Round 1 T-113 (8 Shots off the lead)
+4 end Round 2 T-79 (12 shots off the lead)
E end Round 3 T-20 (6 shots off the lead)
-2 end of tourney T-4 (2 shots off the lead)

How can someone go from barely making the cut to a top 5 finish is really beyond belief...

4 Majors 2005 (1st, 2nd, 1st, 4th) Not bad... compared to the other big 3

Vijay (5th, 6th, 5th, Top 5 finish/Win?)
Man Boobs (10th, 33rd, 60th, Top 5 Finish/Win?)
Els (47th, 15th, 34th, DNP)

Actually it is quite simple they are playing for someone elses money. That is their mind set anyway. Now if it was there own money I bet the outcome might be a little different.

Best Lee Traveno Quote I ever heard was "You don't know what pressure is until you've played for five dollars a hole with only two in your pocket. "

I believe I came up with a great reality show. Instead of battle of the bridges and such where the top four golfers play. Throw four legitimate 25 plus hanicapers on the bridges course playing from the tips, playing for big money, mic them up and watch the fun and hiliarity.

Even with all that, Woods' best/biggest shot of the weekend came as they resumed play after the first delay.

One other side note I left off, we tied the course record for a scramble at -15 under. We had the chance, last hole, par 5 # 2 525 yards uphill to a elevated green, my tee shot traveled about 315 yards on the flat fairway , last 210 was uphill. My 2nd shot I hit a 7 wood that stopped on the short grass, pin up front, about 20' feet away for eagle. Uphill, left to right break..............

3 of us lipped it out, missed the eagle, settled for birdie and a tie of the record. :banghead:

Pahh-leez ..... Ok by your definition Ted Purdy should be holding the Trophey since he shot -4 on Sunday. Oh yeah thats right he teed off in the morning when the conditions of the course where moist and not that windy. But when the last 6 groups teed off the wind was blowing drying the greens making them firm. Yeah try hitting those greens out of the rough without any spin and try to hold them when they are firm. Heck try to hit them with spin out of the fairway with spin and see what happens. STFU Of the top 23 finishers on Sunday only 6 shot under par for the day.

Also by your definition Tiger should not even be in the field on the weekend since he Shot +5 and -1 on the first 2 days. This is why they play 4 round and last time I looked Phil was the only one who shot more than -3. He out lasted the field for 4 rounds instead of 2.

Talk all you want about conditions, the fact is nobody could putt worth a shit down the stretch. The PGA is full of losers which is why Tiger has 10 majors and is the most dominant golfer in the sport. Tits had a good overall tournament, but nobody stepped up when he went +4 on the final two rounds. The golf world can go back to sucking this guy's cock, and he can continue to smile about it.

Have you ever watched a major tournament? I'm failing to understand how this is that different than most majors. Granted the PGA is usually the "easiest" major but it's never a walk in the park. That's why they call them majors, the course is supposed to be set up at a high difficulty so nobody can plow through it. That's what makes some of the things Tiger has done so impressive.

another thing... I understand that majors are set up so that nobody could plow through it, but they are not set up to make you lose a 4 stroke lead with 15 or less holes to go when everybody below you is shooting par or worse. Mickelson had to win this on the 18th and he was lucky that nobody could even shoot par. A great win and a good performance, but far from a great performance.

Oh, I completely agree. I was watching on Friday when he was struggling to make the cut, and 15 strokes back from Michelson. It was disgusting. That said, it is what it is, as the audience wants Tiger TV when they watch golf, especially Majors.

so by this logic if either Love, Singh, Elkington, or Bjorn would have not fallen apart by shooting par then we could have had a different champion.

Oh, I completely agree. I was watching on Friday when he was struggling to make the cut, and 15 strokes back from Michelson. It was disgusting. That said, it is what it is, as the audience wants Tiger TV when they watch golf, especially Majors.

The reason they were showing tiger so much on Friday was because he was going to miss the cut for only the 1st time in a Major as a professional... (2nd PGA cut since 2000) and to think that after qualifying last on Friday, he comes back and finishes 4th.

I think he is the only one this year to come out and be top 5 in all 4 majors.... (2 wins, a 2nd and a 4th)

Tiger is amazing, the jordan of Golf... you got to be kidding yourself that the media would not show him 24/7, you think the media stopped drooling over Jordan after a bad game/ Wizards years... get real...

1/2 the people watch Golf because of Tiger...

Not so, Carlos. TNT showed him in the TPC third and fourth rounds when he was 10 shots off the pace and other players were making moves.

I understand the Tiger phenomena, but I also want to see what other golfers are doing.

*edit. That doesn't mean you're wrong in your assesment. It's completely correct. I just happen to be part of the 50% that wants to see all the golfers.

I'm not criticizing Phil, I'm criticizing the field. This was just an embarassing golf tourney and Mickelson should have run away with it.

Hey Jim Rome, you went off the air a couple of hours ago.

Do you want him to throw a club into the gallery as a sign of being pissed off?

Great line. ROFL

Tiger is an amazing golfer. Until he passes Jack's 18 majors, he's not the "Jordan" of golf. Looks like the odds of that happening are pretty good though. That rookie Sean O'Hair looks like he's pretty good though. I like his story..

Got no problem with the fawning and incessant love fest, while he's winning. 8-10 strokes back is another thing.

I totally agree.
