Is it to early to call 2004 a Wasted draft ?

I was looking at the 2004 draft and if you would have exchanged our draft with the panthers.

Chris Gamble instead of Junior Siavii (looking like a bust)
Keary Colbert instead of Kris Wilson (I hate this guy so much id love for him to come on the feild and break his leg and never play again)

Keep Keyaron Fox has our 3RD

All im saying is If we had Colbert and Gamble we would not have had to scramble for a replacement for Mortan and Warfeild right?

Yea, Especially if Allen was a fluke last year and Sampson doesnt work out.

i don't think we're scrambling...

and you haven't seen kris wilson in a full-blown al saunders offense yet...

the kid's gonna give opposing d-coordinators fits...

Just so you know Chris Gamble was picked before our pick so technically speaking we didn't "pass" on him.

Anyway even if you dislike a draft you can't really call a draft a horrible draft till a few years down the line. If the draft produces 3 starters and 2 significant role players and 1 bust that's not a bad draft. Teams can do far far worse than that on draft day.

Especially considering where we picked in that draft, I don't consider last years draft a horrid draft at this time. The Siavii pick wasn't good, but the rest of it doesn't look that bad.

Well its still early to call it a good draft since parker and wilson havent had much playing time :)

I think we need to stop drafting Defensive Tackles early in the draft, we are not good at it. I'd rather just sign some proven guys in free agency for that position. I think the team right now should be looking at what DT's and DE's are available because I was not that impressed with the dline again.

Wendell Bryant and Norman Hand are free agents as far as I know. I'd have no problem bringing those guys in here to see what they got, what could it hurt.

Also just so everyone knows, Casey Hamptons a free agent after this year. I'm gonna ride that bandwagon forever to get him to sign here. He's the kinda guy we need.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. There were many people here and elsewhere that predicted Preist to succeed in KC. Did they expect him to succeed as much as he has? No. You can't expect or predict the kind of production he has put up as a Kansas City Chief. But, that is not the point. The point is you couldn't be more wrong than you ever are right now with that statement.

Not being happy with a Chiefs draft -- ordinary.

Wishing a career-ending injury on a player just because we could have drafted someone else -- priceless. Oh, and utterly stupid.

I'm just messing with you. I know there are several of my old teachers that wouldn't be too happy with some of my posts here either.

Here's some advice: if you want anyone to care about your opinion, try using a spell check, try throwing in a comma. That way when you ramble on aimlessly, at least people won't look at you as the complete idiot you are.

I think you,re definitely wrong on this one. I agree with go bo. Wilson is a natural pass catcher with wide receiver speed and a fullback's body. He will be effective in this offense. It seems like every highlight I've seen of him shows a guy who has great hands and who can catch in traffic at full speed.

I agree with that...I didn't like the Wilson pick but not because of his talent...just because we had big needs on the defensive side of the ball and at WR. Adding a player at a strenght position that high in the draft didn't make a ton of sense at the time but I do think he has a good chance of making some very good contributions this season and well into the future.

When Trent compared Kris Wilson to Mikael Ricks this week in an interview, it made me shudder. He said something like Saunders is trying to create mis-matches for Wilson like they tried to do with Ricks. Ugghh. If that's the case, Wilson is going to be a waste.

Saunders loves his toys but instead of wasting time trying to run trick plays like he does with Dante, he should just focus on getting the ball to Priest, LJ, or Gonzo. If the other guys happen to be open, then they should get the ball. But don't waste your time putting these guys in the game only for these "exotic" plays, only to have the defense know that you're trying to get them the ball.

That's probably my biggest complaint of Saunders. Oh look, here comes Dante in the game. It's either gonna be a reverse or a quick pass out to Dante for a 1 yard gain.

I didn't see that he'd be the NFL's very best, but I knew he'd be the best we had since Okoye [and that includes Marcus, who was still the greatest short yardage back, but just OK as a workhorse or to-the-house threat by the time he got here]. You'll never read anything but praise from me from the moment he hit the radar.

You left out the rest. Trent went on to say that the Gonzo-Ricks set never really worked because Ricks wasn't able to do the things that Kris Wilson can do.

But I did think it was a good signing. I had seen what he had done in Baltimore and thought wow we are getting a thousand yard rusher for almost nothing.
