I’ll have to confess until I got a computer and hooked up with the internet, I had no idea how many friendly folks there were out there who are concerned about my welfare.

At one point I was receiving several dozen messages a day from my newfound friends, all intent on making my life easier. On a typical day at least three of them were concerned about my love life and had all kinds of helpful products for sale guaranteed to turn me into a real stud.

At least as many people were deeply concerned about my finances and indicated they would be overjoyed to present me with some fantastic investment opportunities that would put me in a position where Bill Gates would be asking ME for money.

What made all of this even more heartwarming is that I was on a first name basis with many of my newfound friends. Well, I wasn’t actually on a first name basis with them but they were on a first name basis with me and often started the message with, “Greg, I have this wonderful opportunity for you”. Susan even sent me several messages stating, “You really do have money coming to you, Greg.”

Someone inquired if I was a Christian over 30 and asked if I wanted to settle down. I don’t know where they were going with this since I didn’t respond. Another internet friend offered to help me meet singles in this area. This might have been helpful had I been a Christian over 30 who hadn’t settled down yet, but while I’m way over 30, I’ve been married for a long time; and asking my wife if she’d mind if I met some singles didn’t seem like a very good idea.

It's not so bad nowadays.... I get maybe 1, and a lot of the times the Outlook Spam filter will catch it. Back when I was in Rolla, though, ugh. Some doucherabbit down there found an easy way to access every email address at the "umr.edu" domain and sold them to every spam merchant who would give him a dime for them. I was getting 30-40 a day easy...

I do everything I can to try to prevent them, but some of them still make it though. It’s not as bad on my primary account, but one of my Yahoo accounts gets 40 “bulk emails” a day These guys must just keep selling the email address and after awhile, the multiplier effect takes over. :shake:

I really have no idea. I have installed the Intelligent Message Filter on the Exchange Server, and I use Junk E-mail filters on Outlook, so I get rid of most of it before they hit the inbox....

...heh, heh... he said "inbox"...

I get over 200 spam emails a day. They just go right to the junk box. I have filter in Outlook set up too.

I never unsubscribe to spam email. If you do , yeah they never send you any email but they sell your email addy to others.

I actually had to dump my original email address a few years back because of spam. I was getting 75-100 emails a day. Now I don't hardly get any. I have a spam filter as part of my internet email package and the spam gets shot down at the server rather than at my computer.

It is amazing how you can do G-rated surfing and get X-rated emails. Even with the Church's email addy, I took 40 spams off the server's spam blocker before opening outlook. And there were some of those that were offering help with singles and sex drive and such - in the Church's email address.:shake:

My problem is doing business to ebay, i have to email several people and they dont have the spam protection, so its gets sent to everyone in their address book.. I used to get hardly any, now with comcast (who suck at spamware protection) , i get about (10) anal probes, (20) viagra ads (10) XXX sites everyday, i wish it was a crime to sent this crap... Annoyance more than anything...

I only get a few at my main account, but I get tons at my public account.

Right now, I've got some stupid spyware that pops up ads every ten minutes or so. It's one of those that are hard to remove, so I'm gritting my teeth until my computer guy comes in next week. I really do think that spammers should be euthanized.

5-10. The least they could do is send some nudie pictures with their offer.

I voted "over 5"...
but my question is do still consider it SPAM when your wife sends it to you? I don't care how many times she sends it.... I'm still not interested in:

VIAGRA
PENIS ENLARGEMENT PILLS
WEIGHT LOSS PILLS
STAMINA PILLS

It's really starting to annoy me :banghead: :doh!:

I don't even remember the last spam I received. I choose to think Netzero must be catching all of it, otherwise I'll have to face the fact that nobody, not even the spammer, loves me.

I use GMail and Yahoo mail, as well as an ISP address. GMail and Yahoo barely get any, maybe 1 or 2 a day. The ISP address is a little more, but I only check it like once a month.

Who in the hell sends money to people writing you an email that has a subject like "Here are the pics you asked for!!!" And then ends up being an ad for "V1AGRA L3V1TRA C1AL1S"

I guess they wouldn't be doing it if there weren't people out there stupid enough to buy.

That baffles me, too. I'm supposed to give my credit card information to someone who won't give me their name, and then I'm supposed to swallow some pills that they send me? No, thanks.
