Anyone here have any experience with these? I am looking at systems that will support about 200 extensions. Any help/sugeestions would be great!

The Cisco Call Manager will work but they will kill you with new boxes and their phones are expensive. I've been involved with about a half-dozen of these and they always over-run the budget and never deliver everything promised.

Interactive Intelligence ( http://www.inin.com/ ) is probably the most flexible system around and will just just about anyone's IP phone. The pricing covers quite a broad range depending on how much you want it to be able to do. It is software based so the top version is completely programmable. I've put in a few dozen of these and they're great. Don't let yourself be tempted into buy this with the Cisco integration, though.

There's another product named Call Center Anywhere that I've seen but it's been years.

The old iron varieties are pretty much crap and they're horrifically expensive.

Do yourself a favor and check out Asterisk. It's an open source VOIP server with SIP, voicemail, fax, auto attendants, a scripting language of sorts and the ability to execute external apps. I've run three seperate systems and they've been rock solid. I've never run a 200 extension one but I've read tales of them and chatted with people who have. You can purchase support from Digium if you so desire.

CCM is likely more expensive than what you will be looking for with a site that small.

Stay away from the old VoIP intergrated PBX systems. Go pure IP telephony no matter what you decide to do, otherwise it will cost you out the ass in a few years.

Not quite as applicable for the size of your installation, but still pretty good reading...plus I spent alot of time on it! :D

FYI, I sell quite a bit of both CPE-based and network-based VoIP. CPE-based VoIP can be very expensive and they very rarely work the way you expect when you're done.

That would not apply if he bought a CPE-based VoIP system.

Essential reading if you're just getting started into VoIP.

When are the WiFi phones coming out? I have Vonage and a wireless network at home and those would be cool to have...

Not sure when true 802.11 handsets will come out (they might be out already)...

I use Windows Messenger, which has SIP built in, as my soft phone. My laptop uses 802.11 to get on the network, and I have a bluetooth headset that functions as my actual phone.

We will be getting a CPE based system. One of our offices uses a Network Based and the quality can be questionable at times.
