With the rash of injuries to both Trent and all of his backups, and the extremely poor play of the backups, what do people think of signing a veteran like Vinny as insurance?

Why don't we just re-sign Warren Moon?

We already signed Vinny except his name is Johnathan.

I suppose it wouldn't be the worst thing we could do... but I kind of feel like why bother... if Trent goes down we're not going to the Super-Bowl anyway. Maybe that's the wrong attitude. I have a headache.

He'll throw for 5,000 yards but have like 5 TD's and 20 INTs

I like Collins as our #2. Testeverde would not be a step up.

No, it's not the wrong attitude.
It's reality.
Which to me just makes the case for keeping James Killian on the roster that much stronger.
None of QBs on our roster after Green, Collins, Huard, or Quinn, are going to lead this team anywhere, except down the crapper.
Why waste a roster spot on a 3rd string scrub that doesn't have anyting to offer?

I'd rather go through signing Bubby Brister, watching him commit five turnovers in the final preseason game, cutting him and trading for Joe Germaine all over again rather than signing Vinny...

Why has Todd Collins been on the roster for 8 years if the coaching staff doesn't think he's any good?

I noticed Chad Hutchinson was released by the Bears. Do you see any scenario where Hutchinson could be brought in considering he has experience in Saunders offense from last season with the Bears?
They need Quinn to play the game this week. Maybe release Huard, pickup Hutchinson and let him try his hand as the third QB this week? The Chiefs could have Green, Collins, and Quinn / Hutchinson on the roster with Killian on the PS.
Hutchinson is the only player released this week that I found intriguing or worth a look.

The guy had a passer rating of 0.0 after 14 attempts. I didn't even know that was possible. The Bears are completely decimated at QB, and they still cut him.
No thanks.
...Hutchinson could be brought in...
Ahhh! My eyes! My eyes!

What about Tim Couch? Surely he couldn't be worse than Killian or Quinn?

It appears that no one in the NFL thinks so.
If Green goes down for a substantial amount of time, there isn't a QB out there that could take KC where they want to go.

Collins might be a good backup, but right now he has a fractured hand; last I read and that he wouldn't be available for a few more weeks. We also know that all football teams underplay injuries to the press.

I dont know.....Simon wouldnt be a bad idea....or how bout Warrick or Price?
Remember, we did virtually the same thing with Kennison and he's turned out ok.

At this point, Im not sure bringing in any QB not familiar with KC's system is going to do them any good. Is 10 days enough time to learn the offense and be effective. I highly doubt it.

I agree....the system knowledge seems to be more important than the skills....
Although, Dr. Quinn isnt proving that theory right yet.

If Green part time / Collins isn't available
Quinn becomes 'the man' of the hour.

I heard Roaf got a paper cut the other day...maybe we should bring back Marcus Spears just in case it's a concern.

I figured Simon was so out of reach that he never entered my mind.
Warrick never looked good to me and was always injured, but then again I haven't watched many Bengal games the last two decades.
Living in Atlanta I got to see way too much of Price and all I want is for him to stay away from KC. Vick is not a typical pocket passer and has accuracy problems at times, but that didn't stop Crumpler from looking very good. And Jenkins is looking good this preseason. But, Price quits on plays, never wins on a jump ball with a DB, doesn't separate with the DB, doesn't adjust to a bad pass, drops the ball way too often, doesn't block worth a crap, and has an attitude that is black as night. The guy is the definition of locker room cancer who seemed to anger me with his play on the field almost weekly. Even his own coach, Jim Mora Jr., doesn't act in the local media like he gives a damn what happens to the guy.
I would rather see a return of Morton than see Price come to KC.

Good point, but I suspect we will see more of that type QB performance in Chicago this year.
Huard was the guy that opened my eyes to how bad a QB could be. If I thought Huard had potential maybe I wouldn't be intrigued by Hutchinson. Maybe Tim Couch would be a better pickup.
In the end I just want to see Huard gone and some real potential for the future from the number 3 guy. It could be Killian, but I'm not impressed so far and Quinn is just a stop gap guy although he is better than Huard.
No.

Not sure about “worst idea ever,” but has to concede it is pretty bad.

Testaverde? :shake:
Hutchinson? :Lin:
Couch was rehabbing a shoulder injury this offseason. It's the injury that led to him failing with the Packers, and I think it prevented him from getting a look from any teams this offseason. I don't know how fit he is supposed to be right now. But he would be the best option discussed so far (IMO), if healthy....

I don't know. Build a major city next to the sea below sea level doesn't sound like a good idea either. But WTF do I know.

I bet we could lure Rich Gannon away from the announcer booth.
Nope. Vinnie would just get injured and we'd be back to square one. Besides, he hasn't exactly lit it up recently.
