We have 4 sub-forums stuck at the top of the page. We need to add a "Games" sub-forum during the season for all our Gambling, pick'em, score, fantasy, etc. games which accompany the regular season.

I don't want more than 4 sub-forums at the top, so one of them needs moved. Which one?

Easy... Take down the one that has the fewest threads... ;)

Taco John

You also might consider another poll option... removing them from up there altogether and just putting them in the main index... :)

If the general populous chooses the Store to be moved, that's what I'll do. I know this democracy stuff is really not the type of leadership you prefer, but it is proven. My shoulders are large enough to handle the criticism even though I'm simply following the wishes of my constituents.

You just want to keep DC easily accessible because it's the only place you spend any time.

I vote to kick DC out. It's become a caricature of itself. I haven't seen a reasonable discussion carried on over there in months. Leave it on the board to keep that garbage off the main board, but it doesn't need to be linked off of the main page. Ever.

My point was not to remove a revenue generator if it is the least hit forum. Clearly, having that forum there helps to maintain the board so you would not remove that one. Besides, it's not a discussion board. The board that generates the least hits (and is a discussion board) should be the one that goes...logically speaking.

I don't care where it. But if it is the second most accessed board (and I don't know for sure it is) then it's rather juvenile to bury it simply because it's an 'irritant' to some who allow it to be so.

I was for moving the Girlie thread off the main board because it was too accessible by accident. People who would come here for the first time might have gotten a welcome or unwelcome surprise. It's worked fine. It still gets plenty of hits and is still going strong. It would make no sense to move the pictures/girlie forum either.

3. Store forum - needed for planet revenue

4. geeks - needed more for archiving measures

I voted for moving the pictures one, based on the thought that those who "need" to see the Girly thread will find it, come hell or high water.

On second thought though, I think we should alternate the DC & Games forums. DC during the off season, Games during the season.

Also, I agree we need to clean up the boards header... move the store link up there. Move the Donation and Store links to the same row as the other buttons... and remove all the wasted whitespace.

10 minutes of cleanup tops, I suspect.

People vote with their feet. Were it not for a handful of poster and Katrina, during the last month or two.....the place has become a ghost town.

Who are the "righties" that are left....who are still really debating? The ones I still see posting there anymore are doing so more out for "entertainment" than for any serious constructive debate of actual issues.

There was a time when the lefties there were drawn into reasonable and informed debate and discussion with conservatives--yes, there was plenty of dumbassery (which I contributed to, yes). Although that didn't last long, there was occaisional dialogue.

Anymore, it really has become nothing more than a Bush-bashing-leftist-libertarian circle-jerk. Many of us, regardless of political leaning, find no value in that.

It's interesting on the level of being some kind of sick spectator sport. But when it comes right down to it, everything is so stagnant that none of it affects my life THAT much anyway.

Taxes go up or down, they cut this or send extra funding toward that, most of it doesn't matter to me. I get up and go to work in the morning and take care of myself. I guess the government doesn't interest me much anymore because I don't live life relying on it to take care of me.

Those subforums have proven to be incredibly convenient, IMO. Not only does it save a mouseclick, but you can see the latest activity in that forum without clicking into it. I think that's important.

Just some feedback on this... I used to agree... But I got rid of the subforums up there (mostly due to addint a google banner ad) and it turns out that they still get used every day... People just browse the forum list and select where they want to go.

Ahh, perspective is everything. What you don't understand is that it used to be a Bush-praising-rightist-libertarian-circle-jerk..you just didn't see it because you were too busy pulling your pud with the rest of them.

As much as some would like to suggest otherwise, that is, generally speaking, the case. The same thing happened at The Pen; people slowly stopped going over there because it was just too much. The split board only increases the heated atmosphere, you are going from one argument to another, to another, to another. I made an attempt at adding a little light-heartedness over there, and got really good responses from it, however if I was not keeping that thread alive myself, it would just die.

As time goes on an all politics board is going to become nastier and more spite filled, its just the nature of the beast. I was a mod at The Pen, and the last few months of its existence, even before members really started to drop off, I only checked in maybe once a month. It just wears on you.

Even before I made the decision to stay out of DC completely a couple of weeks ago, I was hardly in (with a couple of exceptions) that forum anyway. I know some of the opposition looks at the timing and says, "Coincidence? I think not", but if that is what they want to think, if that helps solidify in their minds that they are right, I don't care.

And frankly, I see nothing suspicious about the timing anyway. It only looks bad for my side from their perspective, I happen to disagree. There may be some things I am not especially fond of taking place, but that has always been the case. The opposition has what they think is "new news, damning evidence, a smoking gun, more f#ck ups", what have you. It is almost entirely BS. This whole Katrina thing is a perfect example, but I shall not elaborate as this is not the forum for it. But it is not what they are painting it to be. So from my POV, I have nothing to run and hide from. I am merely weary of the game at this point in time. But mostly, I am just weary of her.

However, the behavior in this thread today further solidifies the idea that the DC forum is a pox on this board. It serves no other purpose other than for people to piss on each other. On the other hand what I don't respect is my fellow conservatives who are no longer in the clear majority over there and right now under siege because the administration has it's share of problems wanting to destroy it so they feel like somehow they have won. I do think having no visible link to it on the Lounge will destroy it so they will likely get their wish.

Hell maybe if that is how childish this place has become I should start looking for a new BB to frequent. Probably won't happen but this is a pretty disgusting exhibiton of a veiled banishment of a segment of posters.

The main forum was "anything goes". Then there was a vote to disallow political topics. That's the only rule regarding topics in the main forum.

Simple. Then why is there a separate Royals forum that was designed for them. There is no poop forum. And quit asking the rest of us dumbshits.

... The opposition has what they think is "new news, damning evidence, a smoking gun, more f#ck ups", what have you. It is almost entirely BS. This whole Katrina thing is a perfect example...

And, therefore, a waste of time and effort to debate---when in fact any real effort and constructive discourse or exchange devolves very into that too.

FTR, it was the same shit from the far right toward the end of the Clinton years, and his scandals. Neither of the extremist sides knows when to say, "enough." It's all about us vs. them, all about irrational personal attacks and demagoguery, all about why the other side sucks or is evil.....

The concept of the loyal opposition in politics has been replaced by slash-and-burn politics of personal attacks, talking points, and propaganda masquerading as "facts and evidence." It's all become bullshit. And BOTH sides are to blame.

For Royals-only discussion. It's not a difficult concept.

Threads are moved to the geeks or pictures forum for archival purposes only. Not because they're disallowed in the main forum. Royals threads aren't usually given the same courtesy because.... well, nobody really cares enough about the Royals to want to archive the threads.I think I can show you posts from Skip and Big Daddy that will show that is not true. At least if they were not killed in the great database correction. I specifically recall Phil (back when I was a moderator) saying that all picture threads were to be moved the the separate forum and that Big Daddy went ballistic because he thought they were trying to kill his thread. Skip just recently went ballistic when he was helping someone with a DTV issue and the thread got moved to the Geeks thread.

I hope it's okay that I laugh at that.

Proceed. :D

so donger was a culprit as long as i throw a few liberals out there to balance your conservative conscience?

Yes, that is exactly what I said isn't? Try rereading it, Laz. I said REMOVE him from the list. I named the three people that everyone was complaining about at the time. Donger was not one of those three, except in your mind.

and yes den-ise was plenty responsible for the DC forum split ... i never said she wasn't ... but she it's calling for the moving/deletion of the forum she help create.

donger is.

I have no clue as to why you feel the need to defend Denise, I wasn't attacking her (for once).

Fact is the labor to fix the software is what makes the BB go, not the hardware. I could buy that in a nanosecond.

SOME people are just using this as an excuse to try to atomic bomb the DC forum as a lame way to say if conservatives can't have the DC forum, nobody can ... BOOM.
You're doing nothing more than drawing party lines with that comment. No more. No less.

The DC forum is nothing more than a pissing match. It serves no real purpose. It's totally uninformative. Anything worth wild found there can readily be found on television. The main board, be it Chiefs news, NFL news or even Royals news, normally has solid information that you will not find just by flipping on the television. The pissing matches are minimal as well. If you people want to discuss politics, why the hell don't you go find a political board and do it there and stop dredging up this muck once a year on an otherwise perfectly good football board?

IMO those that own the hardware own the software at the same time.

So whatever they decide to make the two work together is what should be implemented. If they lose users so be it.

Mistakes have been made w/ mods being quick on the trigger. Mods are human, after all. It's not policy that geek or picture threads are banned from the main forum.I think you best double check with Phil on the pictures policy, that policy was made while I was a moderator and I remember it specifically. As I do Troy thinking they were to kill his thread by requiring the picture threads be in a separate forum. You are probably right about the Geeks forum I would have no way of knowing.

Yep! And if you leave over DC forum issues instead of being here for football talk, you're not a "real fan" anyway. :p

Just to throw my two cents in, and I have no problem with Donger whatsoever, but I agree with Laz that there was a time where he posted a lot of political threads. Almost anything he came across, he posted. I think he toned it down a bit after a while, but he certainly posted a lot of politically related threads. I'll let everyone else discuss the merits of it, but I don't think Laz is off his rocker here at all.

AND it always has been ... nothings changed except the ratio of wingnuts to moonbats.

and the party lines were not drawn by me, they were drawn by the people who suddenly decided to kill something that they created because they don't like how it turned out.

You have lost your mind. Donger was never a problem on the main forum in the context of starting political threads.

This is why so many are leaving, you all are a bunch of conspiratorial nut jobs. There is little to no rationale discussion with you all. It's all Outer Limits Moonbat whackines. ... You are so obsessed that you are breaking the rules that YOU support.

This is why people are leaving - you all have gone way off the deep end.

And that's the 100% truth.

Damn you, you continue to destroy all of my preconceived notions of CONS...

Anyone can buy the prepackaged software and the hardware I could do that in a nanosecond. It is the labor that a few people behind the scenes (mainly Kyle) put into the hacks that make this place.

It's "their" desire to retain users. Without users you don't have a board.

My point is why ask 5000 users for answers? They're going to get 5000 answers?

Since they own it let them decide. I've never once been asked to pay a fee to sign on. Those that want to stick around will do so. This is a Chiefs board first and that thought should never be lost.

Maybe I don't understand the issues because I've never bitched about any of them. I just sign on and see what's there and post if I want.

Ok, then I'll try one more time.

Those that put forth the labor should decide what the planet should look like. Asking the rest of us morons what the planet should look like is the same as asking 5000 people what your favorite color is.
