Weird movie, but not nearly as weird as I thought it would be from reading the reviews. It's by Todd Solondz, the dude that did Happiness and Welcome to the Dollhouse. I'm not sure what to think of it, really. I was expecting something much more out there, but the main contrivance seems to be that the main character Aviva, gets played by (in no particular order) a young black girl, an overweight young white teen, a waifish adolescent girl, an adogynous white teen girl, a waifish 18 year old girl, and an obscenely obese black woman. There's also some weirdness with a Christian lady named Mama Sunshine that has an orphanage of disabled kids (a blind albino, a kid with Downs, a girl without arms or legs, and various others) that she's training to be a New Kids on the Block type Christian band. Other than that, it's a fairly straightforward story centering on abortion and morality. If anyone has seen it and has any thoughts, I'd be curious to hear them.
