This old 300 pound 21 inch Sony regular monitor takes up half my fricken desk and is starting to get the evil lines.

I am looking at picking up a 19 inch flat screen monitor. Are there any sweet deals out there at various on-line sites? I thought I would tap the Planet for some ideas! :)

I'd go to www.newegg.com.

If you're not in a big hurry Dell will run 15% off and you can sometimes stack a 10 or 15% off coupon on top of that.

Looks like they have ~20% off on the 19"s right now. Search around for "Dell coupon code" on the web and see if you can find one that is "stackable".

I've had this one for about 6 months and it's great.

Wait till you move that old clunker and put a nice LCD screen up there, you'll wonder how you lived without it and what the hell to do with all the new space.

Tell me about it Joe. Like I said, this pig takes up about half my desk and is starting to look like hell. Time to retire the old Sony Trinatron as a boat anchor. :D

The biggest thing to beware of when purchasing an LCD monitor: What is the dead pixel policy? How many pixels have to be dead for the monitor to be considered "bad". Dell's used to be 0 but I'd have to check again. If it's over 5 you might want to be careful or make sure there is a no-questions-asked return policy for at least 30 days.

Well, NewEgg had a 6 dead pixel policy at the time I ordered mine. Of course, I read hundreds of reviews that said "no dead pixels" before I bought.

I got a 19" 12ms display for less than Dell's 19" 25ms display.

i bought my Samsung 930b at Micro Center because i feared dead pixels. It didn't have any so I probably over paid by 50-60 bucks =/

By the way, my MiL bought a Dell system about 4 months ago, and her monitor had 2 dead pixels and Dell didn't replace it...

I know you dropped a pretty penny on that 21" monster. I ditched mine a couple years ago. I ended up donating it to Purple Heart.

I don't want to just throw it out and I don't own a boat where the 60 pound monster would work as a fine anchor. I'm going to donate mine as well to something. What is Purple Heart?

On a side note:

For anyone else in the same boat, this place looked like it may have had some decent deals as well. http://www.tigerdirect.com/indexus.asp?SRCCODE=WEBGOOTD&CMP=KNC-GOOGL

Yeah - that's them. I dumped about $600 into my monster when SRP was double that. It really pained me to give it away.

Yeah, I was thinking I paid between $600-$800 at the time. I know it wasn't cheap. I will send these guys an email and see if they have a post in the area and drop it off if they do.
