Did anybody watch "Outside the Lines" tonight? They had a feature about this new video game that comes out soon. It's probably been discussed on this board and I've just missed it, and actually I've joked about a video game like this, but this is the real deal. Since EA has control of the NFL license, Midway has turned the Blitz series into a "Playmakers" style game. It has fictional teams and players, although Lawrence Taylor is the "model" for one of the leagues star players and cover guy for the game. There's also a team that has a black left handed QB who wears #7, can run like the wind, and is named "Mike Mexico".
It's everything the NFL games aren't though, the players taunt and cuss, illegal hits, some of them are way unrealistic like the old "Blitz" games. Gruesome injuries, players can take performance enhancing drugs, etc, etc. It showed players in nightclubs picking up women, getting in fights, stuff like that. It apparently even gives you the option of sending escorts to the opposing team's hotel the night before a game. Good idea for a football game? Too over the top?
