Big Papi.

I hope Big Papi, but if someone put a gun to me I would say A-Rod

What if it was David Ortiz holding the gun?

no dh should ever win the mvp

It's not like ARod would be winning the MVP because of his defense.

Andruw Jones should win both MVPs

Id go with Ortiz even though he is a DH..cause I hate anyone or anything involved with the yankees..

Papi.
For my reasoning, refer to Bill Simmons' column in the latests "The Mag."

neither of these two fools were good enough to get their team out of LDS.

Arod still has a chance, but it doesn't look likely.

Start looking at some other teams for mvp, the red sux aren't going anywhere.

So what if he is a DH? Most kickers in the NFL score more points than anyone else on their teams. And they are only kickers.

Big Papi all the way. I would even take ManRam over A-Rod.

I DH for MVP, wouldn't suprise me since baseball is such a Puzzy sport anymore. Seriously MLB is worse than soccer. Who really gives a f#ck???

It's not like ARod would be winning the MVP because of his defense.

He plays gold-glove defense. Ortiz sits on the bench.

Not only is A-Rod the MVP, this isn't even a DEBATE. It's just not even close.

Rodriguez had by far the better year.

a) ARod doesn't play 'gold glove' defense. He will make a nice play or two, but he'll also botch routine plays.

b) Even if he was a Gold Glover on D, the MVP has basically become an award for offensive statistics. Those numbers are all that would get argued for, not how he plays defense.

c) Ortiz could've played 150 games at 1st and played shitty in the field, he'd still be right there in the MVP discussion.

ARod will win in a landslide.

I'd vote for Big Papi, but I'm wildly biased, both for Ortiz and against ARod.

I really don't think that a DH should win the MVP. Yes, the MVP is all about offensive stats, but the DH is still only half a ballplayer. I think that it is a lot easier to hit when you can go back into the clubhouse during the game and look at video in between your at bats and ride an exercise bike to keep loose. When Ortiz played in the field in Minnesota he wasn't half the player he is now. Some of that has to do with development, and some with the bad Minnesota turf, but I do think that his stats were negatively impacted by playing in the field.

A-Rod should win even though he might be the world's biggest douchebag.

If you put Pujols in Fenway he'd be a threat to hit .380 and hit 50 HR every year.

Considering A-Rod played like shit in the playoffs, definately Ortiz.

MVP is voted on before the playoffs.......since it's well the season MVP. So his playoff performance doesn't matter in this case.

A-Rod all the way.agreed, but he should be. He is the most expensive player.

They should retitle the award to "the MEP". Then they automatically get one more dollar than the top paid player in the league is that year. Paid for by their team, or instant FA.

I have always been a proponent of incentive based salary structures. Why the heck should Giambi get paid the same for his 2 shitty months as he did for his good 3 months?
