Setting aside the fact that Donnie was the greatest back rider ever, the uestion one should ask is this.

If Edwards was still wearing the Red and Gold, would the Chiefs have drafted DJ in this last draft?

My guess would be no.

Since I believe that DJ is going to be twice the LB that Donnie could even hope to be, I don't miss Donnie even the slightest.

I can't think of any current former Chief that I miss.

Joe Horn would be the one, but Roaf likely wouldn't be a Chief now if Horn hadn't moved to the Saints, and like GC said, Willie>Joe.

It's a tie between Dan Saleaumua and John Alt.

I know we have Roaf but Alt was his equal and could have handled right tackle with ease. IMO, Alt is one of the most underated offensive lineman in NFL history. I think the dude gave up fewer sacks than the number of years he played.

Edwards was truly a Carl Peterson **** up but we never knew that Horn was gonna be as great as he is now as tha same with Traylor and Buckner. Tait just wanted too much $$$ from what I remember and John Tait is no Willie Roaf.

I dont think we drafted him, but I do know that we had him in camp/ or at the facility working out with him. He was a journey man before he became a starter at carolina. I cant remember what season it was but it was pretty recent I think.

nah..I think Buckner started off as a Steeler back in the mid 1990's or so...hes been around awhile.....I think he was a Chief briefly around 97 or 98?? It was when Marty was here. He was only in camp but i think he got cut??

Rain Man

Buckner was in camp, but never made the final roster if I remember right. We picked him up after a couple of other teams dropped him, and well after he started briefly in Pittsburgh.

Does Bracey Walker still play in Detroit? It seems like a decade since he was a Chief, but I remember him starting for Detroit as late as last season.

We traded a 7th rounder for Buckner in 1997. We cut him and then he went to the Bengals and 49ers I think before the Panthers got him.

Maybe Edwards isn't the hardest hitter in the league, but he's always around the ball. He's not unlike Sammy Knight, he has his weaknesses, but his ballhawking makes up for it.

Who the hell have we had at LB since that's even come close to comparing to Edwards? No one. Not even close. The way you rail on him, I assume he must've got your daughter pregnant.

I agree, he was in position to make the tackle.

And given the LBs we've since, until now, I would've have preferred to have him.

Now, however, I feel pretty good about our LBs, and don't miss him.

What I find amusing, and the reason I "rail" on him, is that some people actually think the greatest RB rider ever is a playmaker.

THe way he "tackled", you'da thought that he was a rodeo cowboy riding a bull.

I don't know why you are hating on Edwards. If DJ is going to be twice the LB that Edwards is, he will be racking up over 200 solos tackles per year, he will average 5 ints per year and 8 passes defended per year.

And although I would love that to happen, it won't. I will settle for DJ being as good or even a little better than Edwards, but he will never be twice the linebacker Edwards is.

Edwards' career stats (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/3404)

Edwards' career stats (http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/players/playerpage/3404)

He gets credit for a tackle when he's the first guy riding the RB's back.

But he would ride those backs for 2, 3, 4, 5 yards or more waiting for someone who could actually bring the runner down.

DJ will be twice the LB Edwards is, because he'll put up the same kind of numbers, but he'll actually make the tackle rather than just hitch on for the ride.

I only miss Tait because of how our RT position has been playing out this year so far. If one of the two or more of our current group would just step up and solidify the right side of our O-line I would say good riddance to John Tait. That dude didnt want to be here.
