View Full Version : Chargers are pretty good

Much to good to fall to 3-5 at home. Their passing game has really come along and is starting to look pretty scary. The only thing that's stopped them in that dept. all season long is play calling and their emphasis on running the ball. You know about their running game. The fact that they were able to move the ball through the air against Philly the way they did despite not gaining a yard on the ground (and thus being unable to run a large majority of their passing ofense which thrives off play action) is that much more impressive.

Don't be at all surprised to see them pile up 450 + yards against our defense.

Their defense has looked better and better each week and is really starting to get after people now. Their rushing defense is at the top of the league. They've yet to give up 4.0 or more yards a carry to an opponent this season. Their pass D has come along. They looked 10X better in the 4th quarter against Philly then KC did. Castillo is starting to come on up front and Merriman is evolving into a violent force at linebacker. They have a lot of specialists in their front 7 and can get to the quarterback on 3rd and long. wheewww..

KC better hope they've just given up after that tough loss to philly yesterday.

Ummm, what do you mean "Much to good to fall to 3-4 at home"? They are already 3-4. And I think this thread sucks. You think KC's best bet is to hope that the Chargers have just given up? Time to hand over your Chiefs fan membership card, loser.

If they were all that, they probably wouldn't have a losing record.

It wouldn't be Monday without a doom and gloom post from B_Ambuehl.

I thought the criteria for an upcoming game was whether or not the head coach coddles the team after a sloppy win or not?

During the Philly-SD game yesterday, they said Andy Reid gave the entire team their bye week off after the loss to Dallas to let them stew about it.

I can't believe Andy Reid is so soft...no wonder the Eagles suck.

The Chargers are much better than their record. While their secondary is suspect, their run D is outstanding.

They are well-rounded on O; LT is extremely versatile, and no one can doubt the abilities of Gates and McCardell. I believe this will be the biggest challenge the Chiefs secondary has faced so far this season.

Vermiel, and especially Gun, need to really tighten the screws during practice this week. If the Chiefs can somehow sneak out of SD with a W, the momentum boost would be outstanding.

ooopss...you're right...they're too good to fall to "3-<b>5</b>" at home. I think you guys know it too. Especially against this team. How many times has this team capitalized on opportunities such as these?

They had a chance to go 2 games up in the division against Denver. Got blown out. 17-0 lead against philly. Blew that opportunity.

No-Oh. I don't see how anyone who really knows this team can realistically expect a win next sunday. Hope for? Sure. But I'm seeing a lot of "I'm really confident ____" type of posts that make me think next sunday night there will be about 1000 of thesetypes of post clogging up this board:

Chiefs need to fire (insert whatever coach, GM, etc. here!)

Chiefs need to release (insert whatever receiver here!)

Chiefs season is over!

blah blah blah...you guys know the drill. :)

Here's my take (since living here....I get to see all of the Chargers games)...

This team IS pretty good. They're not great...but LT is the real deal and Brees isnt making the same mistakes forcing passes that he did 2-3 years ago. Their defense is starting to look good up front, but their secondary is awful. And that's being nice. This has to be the week that Trent puts up 2 or 3 TD passes. Knowing the attack style of the defensive front, it would be nice to see AS call some screen passes this week for Priest to get out in the open field and into the secondary. This should be a big game for Kennison and Tony G. The crazy thing is....you should D up the Chargers the same way you would if you were trying to stop the Chiefs....contain LT and put a CB or your fastest LB on Gates. Marty really has this team playing disciplined football....they dont really make too many mistakes (although yesterday was a bad time to start).

This will be a very tough game to win for the Chiefs because I dont think Marty will let the team quit. But the nice thing is....this is the second chance this year that the Chiefs have had to throw some dirt on an opponent (the first being at Denver). If the Chiefs win....the Chargers are done...period.

And they make a wonderful chocolate soufflé. Oh, and how could I forget all of the research they've done on the human genome. I'm telling you, this team is so well-rounded there is no way we have a prayer next Sunday.

One thing we have on our side is that the Chiefs have been pretty solid against Tomlinson in the past, even with our bad run defenses.

The Chargers passing game isn't good enough to step up when it needs to. The Eagles were bringing their safeties up to stop the fun, putting their CBs one on one with the Charger WRs. And Brees and his WRs were not good enough to counter this anti-run defense.

That's not what I saw in the 4th quarter of the game yesterday. Granted I didn't see the first 3 quarters. It's not what I saw against Pittsburgh either. What I've seen is the Chargers be able to throw the ball down the field anytime they want. The only thign that stops them from doing is is the coaches lack of calling it.

I'm surprised how good our run defense is this year. 8th in the league in yards allowed per game and 6th in the league in total rush yards allowed. The Eagles made Tomlinson look like a fool yesterday and according to the stats, our run defense is better than theirs.

If our secondary shows up ready to play, I expect a pretty decisive win.

I think bonehead coaching decisions that Marty makes is what will keep a deeply talented team like the Chargers become a great team.

I think SD is among the top 5 teams in the league if not THE best. JMO. We still should have beaten them today
