I was just wondering if the Chiefs would take a look at this guy for a replacement for Robert Holcombe. I would assume the Chiefs were very interested in getting a decent Fullback to help give Tony some breaks here and there, since they signed holcombe over the off season. This article has some nice things to say about his abilities as a blocker/special teams contributor. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at him. Could probably pick him up pretty cheap too. Just wonderin...

Evans would be a good fit, IMO.

ESPN: "Viewed as a fullback cut in the new mold for the position, Evans is a solid blocker, has excellent hands and is also a strong special teams contributor."

Sounds good!

I think everyone would certainly agree to that...but there aren't any solid DT's available. I think this Evans guy could be a diamond in the rough though. If we could sign him for the league minimum, and cut someone like ronnie cruz, who is nothing short of a mediocre special teams player, who knows, this guy could come in and make some big catches for us here and there. He looks, at the very least, like a better special teams player than ronnie cruz is...IMO.

Need to do something before deadline on both DT and FB fronts. If TR goes down look out.

Good post.

Kris "Big Foot" Wilson can be a very adequate at the FB spot too. It was his position before he was slotted at TE at Pittsburgh.

When's the last time KC made a midseason move to improve the team? Kennison?

Very, very true...something inwhich I don't understand. Also, when was the last time the chiefs coach's made a mid-game move to help improve our chances of winning? I Don't think that has ever happened since Vermeil has been here..

If that's the case, and I wouldn't necessarily dissagree with that statement....then why did the Chiefs sign Robert Holcombe over the offseason. For some reason the Chiefs don't think Kris Wilson is ready to handle the rock either through the air or by handing off...don't really know why either???

I believe they were trying to groom him as a TE until his fibula injury occured. Now, It's a mental thing with Wilson, and he should be more of a slashback instead of a pure TE.

Evans looks like he'd be allright, but Id keep Cruz and find a DT. Cruz doesnt seem like hes too bad. We need DT help worse.

to what ex-donk are you referring to? I'm not really current with the available defensive tackles..especially former donkey players. I haven't really heard any mentioned other than Gilbert Brown...which i'm not sure he's our answer since I doubt he's in football shape.

will someone update me to what actually happened to holcombe, i remember they were first saying it wasnt very serious, then he was gone?? Did he sign an injury settelment???

Ronnie Cruz is a waste of a spot on the 43 man roster, vermiel is afraid of playing him, i think this would be an upgrade to sing miller

I'm not sure they ever came out and said what they planned on doing with him (placing him on IR, cutting him, etc)...I just know he isn't listed on our roster anymore so I would assume his contract was terminated by the Chiefs.

I would agree that Ronnie Cruz is a waste of a spot on the 43 man roster...I think he would be better on the practice squad. I think this Evans guy could come in and give us some different and/or better options at fullback/blocking plays/special teams play..since we don't seem to be ready to give Wilson a chance. Who knows.

Are you talking about Davis or Fatafehi, because they're both still out there. And I'm a firm believer that where there's smoke, there's fire. If they were worth a shit, they wouldn't be unemployed.

How's Tony Richardson doing this season? I haven't been keeping an eye on him.

T-Rich, like always, is the man when it comes to blocking...but other than that, he doesnt do too much. He isn't a passing threat and he doesn't play special teams..as far as I know..I think he might play kickoffs when we receive the ball..but maybe not (someone correct me on this). Anyways..he's getting older..and if this Evans guy is exactly like him, but can play all special teams and catch the rock from time to time for positive yards...then why not take a look at him?

in the jets game when T-Rich went out hurt Cruz came in and did an alright job. i think he caught a pass for a first down and his blocking, although not as good as T-Rich,was ok. until he plays more its hard to say how good or bad he is. we need a decent DT more than a fullback.

Wait a minute, I thought this was the reason DV drafted George Layne, I mean Omar Easy, I mean Kris Wilson, oh never mind.

thats what i've thought too. Kris could be a very good tweener that fits into the Kimble Anders mold. I dont think we need to invest in another full time FB since their are several players on our team that could fill in.
