It wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at Reggie Wayne.

If we re-sign both of those QBs, it will be a huge mistake. We need to get a YOUNG, up and comer ready for the future. Green could be a great mentor.

I know what you mean, but the end of your comment would be that he would then sit on the bench for the next "X" years. By the time he got to play (barring injury to the starter) would be when he is past his prime.

As long as it takes us to develop QBs, a year or two on the bench would be beneficial, IMO. I'm not talking about taking the 1st overall player in the draft. We won't be picking that high and we most likley won't be getting a QB in the 1st round unless a promising rookie should fall to us in the draft. I'm talking about getting a young promising QB and developing him for the future.

Steve Hutchinson also from Seattle would be a nice addition also, although he plays at left guard for Seattle I think so that would mean moving him or Waters to RG to replace Shields

Terrence Holt

I seriously doubt Brees will be a FA. They either trade him or most likely re-sign him. Torry Holt will remain a Ram, IMO.

Yep, We need to decide if Harrignton or Rivers can be the KC Chiefs QB of the future and give them a year playing behinf Trent next year.

Terrence Holt is the safety.

what scares me a little is that ANY free agent signing won't start until we get a new head coach.

and we know how slow and fugged up that process is going to be.

i wouldn't be surprised to see almost no free agent movement because Carl can use the head coach issue as an excuse.

creating a problem and then using it as an excuse ... a Carl peterson favorite.

so the Chargers will use the franchise tag on Brees?

yea, unless they come to some kind of contract agreement.

Rivers is prolly trade bait this draft

I have a hard time seeing the Chargers getting a lot for Rivers. It's not like he's been showcased much. Whether or not he can play is still a big mystery, his nice showing against the 32 D notwithstanding.

There are some guards and tackles that would look good in Red and Gold.

I'm campaigning for DAVID CARR to succeed Trent.

If Carr has 1/4 of the protection Trent's receive from our OL during his time in Houston, we would have been talking about Carr and not the likes of Carson Palmer or Donovan McNabb etc.

Exhibit A: Jake Plummer used to lead the league in QB sacks in Ariz. ummm.. how often do you see Jake get sack these days with a solid team behind him?

Considering how many teams are looking for a QB, how poor the draft classes are coming up at that position added in. They're probably going to get more for him than you'd think. I bet they get a 1st round pick for him from someone........

you could be right

they were talking about it on NFL access the other day and mort and them were talking like Rivers still had 1st round draft value.

i dunno though

the also said that Matt leniart from USC was about the only QB in the draft with 1st round franchise value and that would drive up the value of Rivers.

My top choices (in loose order):
1. Wayne (WR)
2. Brees (QB)
3.Triplett (DT)
4. Abraham (DE)
5. Clement (CB)
6. Julian Peterson (OLB)

Bob Whitfield is still in the league? I thought he retired five years ago.

BigChiefFan
10-31-2005, 12:07 PM
so the Chargers will use the franchise tag on Brees?
Oh yeah. Hell, their paying $8 million this year alone. That's franchise tag type money. Plus if you heard yesterday, they already re-sgned Oben and O'neal to longer contracts which probably free up more money for them for next season. That could get a pretty penny for Brees, but I bet they try and trade Rivers, too. Then work on a long-term contract for Brees.

Mecca

They're not going to get rid of Brees, he's best friends with Tomlinson. They've talked about not wanting to upset that "chemistry" on their team.

Hutch will either be re-signed or franchised..
