Yes, but it's the Sat. after Turkey day, your significant other (if you have one) may be having you decorate or something.

In my case, the queenmum will be here & will probably want to go to a movie or shopping.

Thanks, man. You know, for a Missouri fan, you aren't too much of an asshole. :thumb:

:p
Eh, I'm an asshole, but I love Big 12 north sports. Hell, I root for the south when they're not playing the north. Wins for the Big 12 are good for everyone in the conference.

Let's not get crazy, now. The Longhorns will spank us. :banghead:

Heh. Well, strange things has happened before.

At least KU did put up a good fight aganist Texas Tech.

I think most any Jayhawk fan chalked up that game as a loss when the schedule came out. Playing against the #2 team in the country at their house is pretty much impossible. But I wouldn't be surprised to see us give them a nice challenge. We have the defense to keep the game close as long as our offense doesn't turn over the ball.

I suspect you won't believe me, but deep down....I actually agree (with the asshole par, anyway :p ).

Seriously though, in the NCAA Tourney pools, my achilles heel is my loyalty and homerism to the Big 12. :banghead:

I was just messing with you. Actually, I usually root for the other Big 12 teams. Although it is fun to give my wife crap when the Wildcats lose. :D And I hate Oklahoma. It's always good when they lose.

Greatest? Rock chalk? You're chanting about minerals? What does that have to do with anything (ouside of rhyming?)

BTW,
My brother-in-law, who lives in lawrence, and wears nothing but KU garb doesn't like the chant either (he was the one that first brought it to my attention). Is this just a skewed sample?
No matter how objective you claim to be, you are blinded by your disdain for KU, and these "people" who don't like that chant are the first KU fans I've ever heard of who don't like it.

You have to understand history and tradition. KU is built on Mt. Oread, a limestone outcrop smack in the middle of the Kansas plain. Limestone of course, is chalk rock. The story goes that the KU chemistry club was returning from some place on a train and in a moment of school spirit rhymed words to the beat of the click clack of the train. The words are meaningful to anyone who has attended KU or spent their lives devoted to the University in any way.

There is an almost religious quality to the sound of 16,000 people doing it in a closed arena and the feeling that many of us get from it is also religious.

You don't have to understand it. You don't have to appreciate it. But as long as you are a fan of Mizzou football or basketball, you sure as hell are gonna hear it!

Wow, KU only allowed 135 yards. And only 30 of it was rushing. This defense is the best I've seen in a long time.

Man I thought we played the clones before texas, but i guess we'll have to wait until the 26th before we know our bowl fate. Is there any chance we can substitute baylor in place of texas?

This is the one thing my dad didn't manage to pass on to me as I was developing my sporting loyalties. He tried to get me to root for the Broncos in Super Bowl XXII. If we are supposed to dislike a team on game day, why would I root for them at any other time? I will never root for an AFC west team, and I will never root for another Big XII team in any sport unless it has some meaning for KU's destiny.

Pro and College sports are a little different to me, I will Always root for the big 12 north to succeed whereas any other team in the afc west can lose every game for all i care.

Well, I can't bring myself to root for the Broncos or Raiduhs. That's a whole different thing.

I remember a co-worker of mine that was a so called "die-hard Chief fan" that used that same logic in rooting for Denver back in 97 against GB. Needless to say, I was a die hard Favre fan that day. No way will I ever root for Denver or Oakland.

Fantasy football has changed my view a little. I'll pull for individual players now, but could care less how their team does.

Broncos are pure evil, as are the Raiders. I would, however, root for the Colts in the Superbowl, if they made it that far.

During the College Gameday Scoreboard show, Reece Davis did the Rock Chalk Chant over top of some horseshit Mark May was trying to say about Nebraska. I love how KU absolutely whips Nebraska in all phases and all they want to talk about is how bad Nebraska is. Give us some props damnit! It's been 36 years!

The huskers had A LOT of fans in the stands... they represented well. It was glorious to watch them flock out of Memorial with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. :D I give the husker fans props... they were loud, w/o being obnoxious. A large percentage stayed 'til the bitter end.

Sidenote: My 2yr old son is officially good luck for the Jayhawks' football team. Every game he has attended, KU has won. EVERY game :D That's good news for Jayhawk fans: we're season ticket holders, attend every game, and my son loves going. The only home game he missed this season was the OU game... which we lost.
