View Full Version : So, who will Indy be beating in the Super-Bowl?

That there is a good team. I don't care that the Patriots are a shadow of their former selves... that there is a good team in Indy. Barring injuries I don't know who can beat them. Should be an interesting second half.

btw... I think they'll be beating the Giants. Manning vs. Manning.

ouch! I figured after half time it was going to be something like that. The colts look to be on their game this year, more so than other years.

I think the AFC team will win it all, but I'm not sold on the Colts D, sure its lightyears better than they were, but I think it would be a shoot out if we played them in the playoffs.

I'm not entirely sure that the Panthers or Steelers wouldn't beat them. I still think they can be beat up physically on both sides of the ball by the right kind of team.

Pats, sadly, are a shell of themselves, and couldn't even come close.

No way in hell , our offense isn't what it has been in the past and I'm not sure if we have improved enoough on D. Indy would smoke the Chiefs. I hope somebody else gets lucky and takes them out before we'd face them in the playoffs.

...And it really wasn't as close as, even, this score indicates.

I'd be satisfied (for about 3 seconds) with simply making the playoffs.

They aren't as good as everyone thinks.

Indy will be exposed before the end of the season. Their run D is not good at all.
I don't expect them to make it through the post season with run D like that.

But who's better? Steelers?.... ok, maybe in the long run. Denver? I refuse to believe that as long the fake is at QB.

Look at this gift of a schedule they've had:

1 9/11 @ Baltimore Ravens 24 - 7
2 9/18 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 10 - 3
3 9/25 CLEVELAND BROWNS 13 - 6
4 10/2 @ Tennessee Titans 31 - 10
5 10/9 @ San Francisco 49ers 28 - 3
6 10/17 ST. LOUIS RAMS 45 - 28
7 10/23 @ Houston Texans 38 - 20
8 10/30 BYE -
9 11/7 @ New England Patriots 40 - 21
10 11/13 HOUSTON TEXANS 1:00 PM
11 11/20 @ Cincinnati Bengals 4:15 PM
12 11/28 PITTSBURGH STEELERS 9:00 PM
13 12/4 TENNESSEE TITANS 1:00 PM
14 12/11 @ Jacksonville Jaguars 1:00 PM
15 12/18 SAN DIEGO CHARGERS 1:00 PM
16 12/24 @ Seattle Seahawks 4:15 PM
17 1/1 ARIZONA CARDINALS 1:00 PM

In the final half they are playing the Steelers, Bengals, Jaguars, Chargers and Seahawks. I fully expected them to beat the Pats because everything was in alignment for it, but I think Indy is going to finish at about 12-4 or 13-3 after they get exposed by the Bengals. (sound familiar?) And any Playoff team will have a chance to beat them after their momentum is lost.

I understand they haven't played many good teams. You can only play the teams on your schedule though. I can't hold that against them. It's a sign of a good team to beat the teams you should beat consistantly. No doubt their second half schedule is tougher so we'll see what happens.

A lot of us are counting on the Chiefs second half schedule being easier getting us into the playoffs too.

There's no doubt that the Colts are a good team, but jidar makes some good points. I, too, don't believe they are as good as their undefeated record suggests. I guess this 2nd half of the season will show one way or the other.

BTW,
Just to give some perspective and to kind of back up what jidar was saying about their run defense. Indy's run defense is ranked 23rd in yards per carry. The Chiefs are 18th in that category. Indy's overall run defense is 11th, 3 spots behind the Chiefs at 8th.

And they have those stats going against some of the worst backs in the league.

Wasn't YPC one of the stats that was leading many to predict the downfall of the 2003 Chiefs?

IRRC, some of the stat happy crowd was pointing out that the '03 D's passing yards and YPC were horrible and predicted that it would be too long before the D broke.

Right now I'm looking at the short-range effects of last night's game. It confirmed what I thought all along. I know we ain't the Colts, but the Pats are very beatable when they come to Arrowhead on 27 November.

That's why a win in BUF is so crucial. I'm not overlooking the Texans (since they beat us in Arrowhead last year), but if the Chiefs can't win in Houston, they will truly implode.

An 8-3 record is very doable, and frankly, necessary. The die is cast.

But one game at a time...

Indy and Carolina are the 2 teams in the NFL who can generate presure with their front 4 and also have decent offenses. There are other teams that can get the pressure (Pittsburgh), but who's offenses are suspect. The only other team in the category of Indy and Carolina is actually SD.

The Giants have no pass rush and no passing defense. Falcons have no passing offense. Tampa Bay has no offense period. Dallas?? We'll see. Washington? nope - not enough pressure. Jacksonville? good pressure no offense. Pittsburgh? Offense always hits the shitter. Philly? They're capable of doing it if they can get their running game going. KC? worst pressure in the NFL. Seattle? defense is still suspect Chicago? No offense. San Diego? Very scary potential
