I'm at a crossroads.
I'm 36, live in Los angeles, Love Beer, but work in an industry (advertising) which honors youth.

I'm putting on the "spare tire" and the doobly chin recently. I've tried to thwart this thing off, but can never gain any ground, since my lunchtime workouts are usually usurped by meetings or "working lunches"

Family commitments (gotta see the kids some time) preclude me from exercizingbefore/after work.

I love beer.

Should I give in, and resign myself to being pudgy or fight it and go on the wagon and work out and be fit. Be the example?

Two years ago I was placing top 3 in triathlons, now I'm just placing 3 beers on my coffe table.

I have $1500. Should I buy a Nordic Trac or a LaZboy?

I know some of you must be able to relate.

Thoughts?

Spend that $1500 on some nice bikes for you & your kids, then you can get exercise while you spend time with them.

That sounds like an A&B Cycle radio commercial around here.

You will never use that NordicTrac so don't waste your money on it. Try limiting the beer to one night a week with your buddies. You will likely fail if you give it up cold turkey.

I feel like I'm not really qualified to give advice on this topic because I'm so flaky. Depending on the time of year you see me, I'm a svelt 195 or.... a lardass 220.

Get your ass to the gym. If you don't have 3 or 4 hours a week to work out you are doing something wrong.

That's my exercise regimen.

Drink 12 beers and f*ck for an hour. I'm not losing much weight.

either you aren't getting laid or you are a log in bed. :)

At every opportunity, take a walk, at a minimum. I like the idea about buying the bikes for the kids. How old are the younguns'?
