View Full Version : BARBER TO PLAY SUNDAY
Per The Yahoo Sports Version of the Hodge Story
In other Chiefs news, linebacker Shawn Barber has been placed on the 53-man roster but Kansas City, as of this writing, had not made that official. However, Barber told reporters on Wednesday afternoon that he'll play Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Yay
As you can see, I'm very excited.
I know Scanlon is the Second Coming of ZEUS but I like Barber in place of him.

have we really missed this guy???
have we really missed this guy???
He ended Gannons raiderz career...
I miss him
I was always one of the few that liked Barber. He was our best playmaker in 2003... all the way through the playoff game. I thought he was the only defender that showed up against the Colts. He looked to be still trying to figure out Gun's defense early last year though before getting hurt... I imagine he'll have quite a bit of rust to shake off.

He was our best LB in Spinner's D, still playing a physical style, in spite of Spinner.
I think he is/was better suited to play ROLB in Gun's scheme than is Bell, and if he had been healthy over the last season and a half, we might have used that money spent on Bell for another position of need.
So, my answer would be yes.

Does this mean we will be seeing the 3-4 when Sims comes back? I think that could work out VERY nicely and maybe we would see what we have in Bell finally.

Which is why I'm not that excited about his return at this time.
We need to win games, and I'd hate see a game lost because of rust.

Barber has Played alot of football in his life,
when he got hurt last year it wasn't his rookie year He has been with the 1st team practice people and is ready to go i think

Yeah, I don't expect him to be a world beater, but he's a solid player, probably can't hurt to add that for a few snaps a game. Gives Gun a little more flexibility.

Yes, but he hasn't played in a game in a long time.
Doesn't matter how much experience he's had in the past, he's still not going to be in game shape.

I just hope Gun doesn't overuse him early.
He could be a big addition after he gets a couple or three games out there.

I can agree but he wont need to be back in the game very long before he is in game shape

Limit his snaps in the first couple of games, and he should be good to go after.

it would be nice to see him in the game, he was pretty solid for us in 2003. I'd much rather see him coming off the bench than Kris Griffin. It only helps

I agree.
I never thought he was a FA bust.
He was just the only real talent on a truly pathetic defense, in a truly pathetic scheme.
We'll get to really see the Barber we signed with this group of LBs.

I hear that.
I will say this, he was working his ass off in RF during his rehab drills.
If Sims can get back to playing shape, this defense could be solid.
Between the injuries and the mismanagement of the cap, it might be too litlle too late.

Great news. Don't worry guys he will be able to handle anything thrown at him. Anyway Gun should just use him to blitz the QB on Sunday to knock the rust off.

Who knows what he may have left but I cant see comming back as anything but an upside. If he is fully healthy I think it might be a nice improvement and add some flexability.

Chances are he's ST only. I wouldn't want to **** up the MLB play of KM at this point by going 3-4.

I doubt he gets any action on defense unless things are going terrible.

Man, a linebacking core of DJ, Mitchell, Bell and Barber would be pretty sweet. Id like to see them all on the field at once to see what kind of havoc they would create.

Although I think Bell's impact might have been/is minimized by Gun's misuse, I would not be surprised to see Barber, as he gets into game shape, used more and more in place of Bell, sort of an audition, to see if Barber makes Bell expendable for next season.
