View Full Version : Is this team better than our 13-3 team?

I think so.

Our D stiffened up in the 2nd half and won the damn game. Furthermore, this team is getting BETTER down the stretch run as opposed to worse, like the 2003 team did.

I'd agree with that. We're not killer on either side of the ball, but we're certainly above average. IF we make it to the playoffs, I'm pretty confident we'll be prepared to play after going through this schedule to close out the year.

Too soon to say. They win 3 of the last 4, then yes.

We are not better offensively but this team is tougher particularly on defense and it takes tough teams to win in December.

In 2003 at KC, our D stiffened up and stopped the Broncos twice after Dante's return.

So, I'll let you know after the next four games if we're better or not.

Ill say this:

This team is peaking in November and December instead of September and October like 2003

It's amazing on this board how after one loss the season is over, and after one win we're some elite team.

Well shit the 1997 Chiefs weren't better offensively but they are the best Chiefs team in the last 30 years.

We're a TEAM. We're not one-sided.

Yep, the general membership tends to be very manic.

I'd say about even. What we've gained on defense we've lost on offense. This is the defense we could have won the Super Bowl with in 2003. It showed up two years too late.

When it's healthy it is. Better kicker, better punter, a different offense that's capable of scoring just as much and a much better defense. I don't think there's any doubt that this team beats Indy in January 2004.

Too bad we don't have the 2003 schedule.

i think we have a better balance of o n d compared to '03 campaign, our offense may not be as explosive, but our d can stop teams now...-o- and LJ IS THE ****IN MAN

Too soon to say. We were better offensively in 2003, although the last 3 weeks have looked better. We are better defensively this year. We don't have the kick/punt return TDs we did in 2003. We are starting to peak down the stretch, hopefully everyone remains healthy.

when we're healthy this team is better....much more balanced...doens't mean we'll even make the playoffs but we are a more complete team

much better than 2003 because of the improved defense . Our K and P are much better also.

I think so.

Our D stiffened up in the 2nd half and won the damn game. Furthermore, this team is getting BETTER down the stretch run as opposed to worse, like the 2003 team did.We had a pretty soft schedule in 03 as well.

There are 2 games we should have won, and one we could have one this season.

The D has turned a corner and is getting better each week, and our success is centered arround that, the O is feeding off it as well.

This team is better.

The first part of the season was the 2003 Chiefs. They've matured now. Hopefully not too late in the year, but they're playing like they mean it now.

The 2005 team has a swagger on both sides of the ball that the 2003 team didn't have. If we survive this brutal 7-game stretch and make our way into the playoffs, we will definitely be better prepared than we were in '03.

2003 were much, much better on offense and so much better on special team there is no comparison. On defense this team is a little better and improving. Still too early to compare the two team if I had to I would say 2003 slightly better. Neither team is good enough to win a playoff game and isn't that the only thing that matters.

If this team makes the playoffs, they'll win a game. Mark my words.

In 2003...how many games did you win on the return game...2-3? Maybe 4....

2 of Dante's 4 TD's were game winners. The other two came in blowouts. In the GB game, he had some good returns that set up TD drives, but we won that game in OT on a long pass to Kennison.

I'm not sure which 13-3 team this thread is referring to, but all 3 of our 13-3 teams choked at home in the 1st playoff game. I really don't want to compare this years team to any of those teams.

At most, 2. Realistically, 1 (the Ravens game).

It's going to take a D the caliber of our 1997 13-3 team along with our present Off to win a SB.

This years team has the toughest schedule, ranking the last 11 years because I am bored

1) 1997 - Was probably tied with the Donks as the best team in the NFL that year
2) 1995 - Seems like we won every close game, Cowboys much better than us that year, I think the 97 team could beat them
3) 2003 - Got worse as the season went on, had an easy schedule, although probably best offense of the Vermeil era
4) 2005 - Tough schedule, still pretty good offense, and an improving defense
5) 1996- Just flat out choked won the stretch
6) 1999 - For a while I thought this team compared to the 05 team a lot, had a rough middle and made a run late to at least be in the playoff hunt all the way to the end
7) 2002 - Avg defense would of made this team SB champs
8) 2004 - Seemed like a very good team that just never clicked
9) 2001 - Really got better as the year went along
10) 2000 - Gun got probably more blame than he deserves, but still this team should of done better
11) 1998- Wasn't this the year Whitlock said they would go 16-0

2003 was better (as it stands now), but we are on a better trajectory. We could end up with a worse records and not make the playoffs and still end up being better than 2003.

It always looks good after beating Denver.
